| If I remember right last year Kendall said that in order for a good spawning season we needed rain at the right time. I would think that this weather is just what the doctor ordered for another off the charts hatch. Kitch |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | I hope you're right, Kitch. Between the snowmelt to the north and the swelling of the river and lakes from the rain here, I hope we're set up for an awesome spawn.
If I remember right, another factor was the timing of warmer weather conditions. If we have a warming trend as the fry are being hatched, the fry have a better chance of surviving. If the water temp. drops due to a cold snap at the wrong time, it kills alot of the fry. Another factor was the water level as the fry emerge. If we get some well-timed rain as the fry emerge, they get into the river current and float down to the lakes, which gives them a better chance to survive. |

| I'm glad the fish can use this weather for something usefull, for the most part I think it pretty much sucks. |

| No, Andy it does not suck! It's friday and most of us are at work!! it can rain all it wants now to get this stupid ice off. So we can put the fish traps away and start charging batteries and spooling up new line. Go get that Tuffy out of the barn and bring it home, I am sure you can find something to do to it to get ready. Kitch |

Location: Green Bay, WI | I have been hoping for a winter where we had enough snow to fill the marshes full, allowing easy access for the spawning walleyes and easy exits for the fry. My concern is starting to focus on the forge base, I just hope this past winters "normal" winter hasn't caused a drastic drop in the shad population. I'd hate to see the walleyes eat themselves out of house and home!! |
