Fished yesterday with J.Hughes and had 68 fish in four hours. Fish were 16-20" all males. Fish were caught on zips and jigs/minnows. Fished from the hole to the landing. 15-20 feet deep was best. Lots of fun!

What kind of scale do you use to weigh those fish?

Rapala? Why? You think it's not acurate enough to question my judgement? (Although it was pretty dark it might have been 15.5 lbs haha)

I simply wanted to know what kind of scale you use. Why so defensive?

Use this thread to see what a 28" eye weighs. I think your scale might be a little off. Nice fish though!

hahahahahaha
I just had to respond...No harm intended!
Here is another weight calculator from Walleye Central. I did the calculations and they were pretty close to the one that the other site did. If the fish was 28" it should have had a 23" girth or on average a walleye weighing 14 lbs should be about 33.6".

Ya maybe 14 was a bit high I just put a 10 lb downrigger ball on the darn thing and it weighed about 12 1/2 lbs. Suppose I better get a digital. Oh and Tyee has a profile and not afraid to voice his opinion as many of you know quite well! For what thats worth

I dont know why you guys are giving tyee a hard time. If you dont believe him then you dont believe him. Why do you have to keep rockin his boat about it. I for one, do believe him. The first time I have fished Depere about five years back, I caught the biggest walleye I have ever caught on the first cast. The fish measured 28 1/2" and weighed 10.4 on a digital scale and 10.2 on another scale. The fish here run heavier than most other waters. You guys fish here much? And why do you guys have to post anonymously?

Eyefever, Thanks much! but like I said before without a good defense you have no offense and my offense is sometimes too enthusiastic! This thread has over 500 views and only a handfull of posts! The funny thing is there were probably over 1000 boats on that water the past 7 days and look at whos posting! (maybe they are too busy fishing) I gotta believe that a few of the "pros" and many locals frequent this site! Where are their posts? The cold weather has slowed them a bit but if you know what your doing your gonna catch fish either way.
Good Luck

So, no picture? Not trying to give you a hard time. I just want to see a 14lb walleye that is 28". As for a report, 3 of us fished a week ago on Sat. and got 140 walleyes. This last Sat we got 32. Jigs and minnows, jigs and plastics, and spoons all caught fish. No special colors, orange, chartreuse, white and pink all worked.

The last time I was up there in the spring, 2 years ago i think, I got a walleye that was 28" and weighed 12lbs. Tyee, I believe it, no doubt in my mind. There are some real footballs up there. And btw, it was weighed on a berkley scale, twice.

Tyee,

Sounds like you got some real hawgs up there. I'm thinking of trying to get up there this week. Let me know if you are going, and maybe we can hook up on the water.

Great fish you guys! In my case if I catch a 22" it will be my personal record... Hopefully I do not have to go to DePere to get it but I will this season! I wish Rich could come along to show a few tricks that he has up his sleeve. Until then I will keep learning from my mistakes. There is a dude AKA RiverGuy on L-L who adviced me to run up to DePere just around dark on a weekday and keep one trophy before and another one after midnight LOL all I want is some pictures! No mounting of fish and massacre like that!
