Location: Port Washington, wisconsin | Looking for opinions on where to locate the throttle on a new boat for a 9.9 kicker. Will I get an advantage in speed control without the driver side mounted throttle, just control the speed right off the motor handle? Does T/T mounting become an issue if I control right off the handle? Or is the way to go, install throttle in the drivers position and do the troll master?
Thanks guys. |

| I think it depends on your boat style and your preferred type of presentation. For many folks who use their kicker primarily for forward trolling, the remote control version with the control box set up next to the driver's seat (enabling use of the steering wheel) and incorporating a "Troll-Master" throttle controller, is the "cat's meow".
Other folks tend to do more vertical, or finesse type presentations and end up using the kicker more in a backtrolling mode.... they like the tiller handle model. For these folks, we still can add a steering tie bar for their forward trolling needs. This can be popped on for use in those occasions. |

| I set up my 9.9 kicker with electric start, choke, and a throttle control at the driver's console and a steering rod linkage to my main outboard. I usually leave my main outboard down in th water to act as a rudder and to give additional drag to allow really slow presentations at about .8mph. I found this set-up to be really convenient. |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | The Troll-Master" throttle controller by the stering wheel is the way to go. I love it !!!! I also install a trim switch in that location for the kicker. |
