Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Ever notice how the less desirable specie of fish are shunned and for the most part looked at by the (specie purists) as almost a non-important trash fish. Mention that taboo (B) word Bass on most walleye boards, and it's about as popular as a fart in a space capsule. I think without all the varied species of game fish and the interest to pursue them, our respective DNR's would have trouble getting the needed funds to support our fisheries at all.
I remember lot's of days when I was a kid fishing with my dad. Catching anything at all was all I wanted. Caught my first carp on one of those very cheap plastic rods and reels, spooled with white chalk line with an old spark plug for a sinker, while fishing from the old Iron Bridge in Quanicassee. I landed it all by myself. My dad made me give it to an old lady on the bridge who wanted it. Man, it was tough giving that trophy away to a stranger.
I've developed a real passion for certain species that fall well short of the more popular warm and cold water species in our State. White Bass for one, is one heck of a fighter on light gear and isn't bad in the pan either. Crappie and Rock Bass, even though not pursued with any vigor by me, are never thrown back when caught and in season. And both species of bass are always welcome in my boat, even if and when they have to get thrown back.

Smallies have teeth. Not quit as obvious as the pikeral species, but they're there.

Location: Lincoln Park, Mi | I don't keep those type of fish for eating, but love to fish for rockbass when all else fails. It's a blast!!!!! Fierce little buggers, who'll take anything from a crank to a crawler, to a bare jig sometimes. I have a hole by BASF that when they're in the area, I like to bet a beer that two of us can put 100 in the boat in an hour. Haven't lost yet! Love those silver/white bass also. Awesome fight # 4 #!

| Yup.
I like to fish for anything and I enjoy it all. My favorite fishing is jigging, and the most fun is when I am catching good sized walleyes while doing so.
But, whatever I catch is still fun, no matter what presentation.
