| Just wondering, why do all you guys chase walleyes? Me and the hubby dedicate ourselves to chasing muskie cause they are the biggest baddest creatures in the system, but why walleyes? |

Location: Rhinelander | I like the challenge walleye fishing presents on different lake and river systems. Once I get them figured out, I don't spend as much time chasing them, but still end up fishing 'eyes about 20% of my time on the water.
I live in the North, so Muskie doesn't open until a month after the general gamefish season opens. The first month I am on the water is spent in pursuit of 'eyes and big crappies. I especially like early spring walleyes caught casting 1/8 to 1/4 oz. jigs.
Then there's my Goon trip every summer, and the challenge the walleyes pose in that weird water. I fish 'eyes there about 3 hours a day, or until my desired dinner amount of walleye fillets is swimming around in the well, then go back to the muskies.
Late fall at dark chasing weedline BIG 'eyes on 14 to 17# line, a medium heavy spinning rod, and a 2/3 ounce jig paired with a 7" yellow Creature; now THAT is fun. Some nights one can put a dozen in the net over 25", and that's saying something here in Northern Wisconsin.
Why do I fish walleyes? They are challenging, good to eat, fun to catch. And, Sue likes walleye fishing. Someday, I will talk Slamr into a day of Walleye fishing.... |

| I ice-fished with you Mr. Worrall (and yes, stepped into a hole to my knee). That was my total of new experiences for the next few years. I was going to head up by you for the smallie opener with Jill....but I may not have a boat, and there is less chance I will have a willing Jill by then. I will leave the walleyes to you more worthy and appreciative chasers of the wet sock. |

| The pursuit to master several presentation styles on various and regional water system types. The walleye is not the biggest nor the baddest but walley angling is much more multi-dimension. By the way, I believe the biggest and baddest fish in the system has huge belly and a huge mouth with whiskers. |

Location: blue mounds, wisc | the challenge and game of figureing out the wery walleye is by far more exciting than casting and reeling over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. |

| I fish eyes over muskie cuz it is not so boring. Like Larry says, casting forever to maybe see a big fish. And then all you see is a follow and it doesn't even take the bait. Though I will say it is a real rush when ya get one on. I fished muskie when I had a cottage up North by Conover but since selling it, I sold most of my muskie stuff too. Still have about 25 baits left to sell. Very, very boring and very, very expensive to go up North and rent a place and also the price of gas to get there. Why not fish the system we have right here. It's always a challenge, at least for me. But that's my opinion. |

Walleyes are numerous and are above and beyond the most accomodating fish specie. Even though they often go off the feed for periods of time for no reasons, they can be and are caught during all four seasons of the year with just modest knowledge and gear.
Having them be great eating don't hurt either. |

| Bettie, like you, I prefer muskies, and 90% of my fishing is for 'skis. It is nice though, every now and again to stick a crawler on a rig, drop it over the side and just drift and relax, taking it all in.
Oh yeah, and they're so darn tasty!

| Honestly, it is alot easier to plan a fish fry after a day of walleye fishing than it is after a day of muskie fishing! I do both, and love both, but walleyes are still tops in my book. |

Location: Maumee Ohio | Walleye are the closest largest game fish near my area where I live----They taste great and can be challenging to catch----Also more abundant then muskie----It takes strategy and the right combination to catch walleye----Especially trophy walleye which I concentrate most of my efforts on---I have caught several 10 and 11 pounders which in most cases would be considered a trophy however I have resided in the fact that there is still a larger one to catch out there-----My personal trophy walleye would probably be a 13 pd plus fish. If you really want a mean mother try a 25 lb buffallo carp on 10 pd test line in Lake Erie----This is my largest fresh water fish to date---ck photo album------Most favorite salt water fish hands down a tarpon undoubtedly my dream fish----By the way they could eat musky as bait ------lol---I have caught several salt water fish smaller than a muskie or walleye which put out 10 times the fight but that is another story. |

Location: Bradford Pa | Fishing is the most relaxing thing in this world as far as im concerned. And chasing the walleye is a thrill and mighty tasty too. Although we have all had when we wanted to smash every d@mn thing on the boat and toss it in the water, its still my favorite thing to do.

Location: Chicago IL. | It is like a hunt to me. Get on a river and look for places where they feed. Then try to guess what they are feeding on.Then try to guess what color attracts them. Then try to guess what speed they will be active at. Then look at water temp. Then find out what depth thet are at. Then deal with water conditions. Then sit on a boat when weather is at its worst and still get fish to bite. Then be able to control your boat in 40mph winds in your face. Then, when it all comes together........... Now thats fishing!!!!!!!! Bass guys couldnt handle it. Just look at the bass tourneys on tv. They are wereing jump suits when it 50 degs out, walleye guys are in a tshirt putting on sunsreen.HEHEHE

That's what my grandfather taught me to fish for. This man took me as early as 3 years of age on 'Bago ice fishing, and continued to take me until my car-girl-beer chasing days. And not that he had to drag me either, as every time he asked I went and everytime I asked he took me.
Now it is just in my blood. |

Location: Cupar, Saskatchewan, Canada | I fish for walleyes the same reason as I fish for pike, perch, and whitefish etc just to have a day on the lake with the guys. But the reason that I target walleyes is because they are an awesome gamefish and always changing thier mind on you. Plus when I get into the tournaments its just like a whole different world to me. Almost to hard to explain.
