good luck john, that there illinois river is painfull. ZACH, last friday hutch catchs 60 overs and on saturday i went to the same place and fished it like he showed me and didnt get a bite. so yes he has the ability to vaccum them up!!!! but you know how it is shoulda been here yesterday. but i did manage to troll up fifty plus fish with three fish in the mid twenties. CLOWN 11 was down on average of three minutes before it was dragging a fish..

Alas, I'm back in Cudahy after a week on the river. Fished Pool 9 the whole time (weather permitting) and did well. Caught all of my fish on cranks, as the shallow water bite never materialized for me. When you take an 8-year old along, the early morning bite starts at 9
Hutch played Easter Bunny and let my wife and daughter and I play with him and we handlined our way to an Easter basket full of fish.
My daughter and I 3-wayed and hand lined fish every day, with the handline accounting for 95% of the fish. We had a riot even though we missed a couple of days because of weather and some important woods work that needed to be done. Now my tree stands are ready for November and my belly is full of fish. Nothing like fresh walleyes. We'd keep 3 or 4 a day, and brought home a bag for my parents.
One thing of note, we fished 20+ feet and never boated any females. We watched the hatchery boat every day and they never pulled a female that we saw. Our biggest fish was a 22 1/2" male fish that my daughter caught on a handline. After a picture, we put it in the livewell so she could show Hutch. After she showed him, she tossed him back in and said, "Dad, that feels good letting fish go, doesn't it?"
I also had to explain what milt is and why walleyes squirt it all over you when you catch one.
Becky can handle the rest of the reproductive questions.

What's the water temps running up on nine. On 14, we are into the upper 50's, and the males are gone from spawning areas already. Getting ready for an awesome spring on the wings! Flow is still a little fast, but in a week or two, look out! I am dying to get at 'em!

John, I might drop in there once just to get in marked on my GPS, but I promise to release anything I catch there until July! Got a few new special spots now too! I guess I'll have to show 'em to ya when you get down this way! John
