I do not know how to properly filet a northern so as to remove most of the bones.

Does anyone have a link on the web that shows how to filet a northern?

Hey sir, I am doing a video on this very subject tht will be posted here soon as I can pin troy down long enough over a couple Pike to get it done. The method I use leaves a one piece fillet, and is VERY easy to do. One piece fillet with no bones, yummy.

Is your method similar to the "unzipping" your fish process? I bought that video a number of years ago, and it was quite helpful. You end up with one butterflied filet.

Those bony pieces sure do make good pickled fish though

No, I take thje fillet off the pike as one would any fish, just going around the rib bones, and then remove the 'pin' bones with two simple cuts. One piece fillet, no bones. Yummy!
