Subject: Installing transducer????

Hi there, I have a question about installing a transducer on my boat. I have a Crestliner fish hawk and I bought a bottomline tournament 5100. I am wondering if I can install the transducer right to the transom or should I get a wooden mounting plate and screw the transducer to the wooden plate??? Really not sure what to do so any input would be great help!

Thanks Guys,

Steve

Location: Rhinelander
The transducer can be mounted to the hull , no problems should occur. The reason most get a transducer mounting block is the potential for removing and replacing the transducer, multiple units, or other reasons that would result in multiple drill holes in the boat.

I recommend the Rig Rite mounting board. Use silicone on the screws and along the edges where it meets the transom. Only 2 holes in the boat, and you have the ability to move, add, change tranducers, with no more holes in the transom.
