| What line do you prefer when trolling with In-line Boards, and why?
I use mono, for a couple reasons. #1, it doesn't slip and chew up you release pads. #2, I like the stretch it has. Seems more forgiving when fighting the fish. #3 Price. It definately alot cheaper than FireLine. #4, I have more confidence in it.
I really dislike FireLine for trolling boards. I hate having to double wrap releases, sometimes both of them. I don't like the no-strech properties when bringing the fish in.

Fireline or other braid.
Because it doesn't stretch. I don't mind the wrapping and pads aren't that expensive. The lack of stretch makes it easier to read the board. I can tell if the plug is banging bottom, and with larger plugs I can feel them vibrate even with a board on the line. How often do you replace the mono on your reels? I have a couple that have had the same fireline and/or power pro on them that they've had on for 2 or 3 years. Over time, I bet the braid costs less, unless you're getting a whole year or maybe 2 out of your mono. I agree that the lack of stretch is a pain when fighting a fish, just use 9 foot or longer rods with lots of soft tip, and go very slowly and I've found that I don't lose a significant number of fish. Also, I don't have dedicated rods just for boards, since most of my trolling is done without. It allows me to have no more rods in the boat than absolutely necessary.

| I run mono with a 4 ft. powerpro leed helps with the Zebras on winnebago and gilplates and teeth don't cut it up so bad, when I see it is getting some nicks in it I just cut it off and retie. Kitch |

Silver Thread here too. It doesn't chew up pads and it doesn't stretch. Many feet of stretchy line along with it having to run to the inline board creates alot of slack. This will be the cause of many fish self-releasing as the hook has not been set. |

| When running a bait longer than 100 feet from the rod (longlining without boards) I like power pro because it gives better hooksets and you can feel the vibrations of a clean lure better. I like power pro for pitching at dams like depere because it resists abrasion better than mono. I use power pro for jigging in water deeper than 20 feet, again for feel and hookset. I use mono for most other trolling situations, but where stretch can be a problem, I like power pro.

Location: Neenah, WI | We've been using Super Silver Thread for quite a few years with great results. I like that it stretches and is a bit more forgiving. We sometimes have youngsters or novice anglers in the boat who lack the finesse/patience to fight a fish on no stretch line. |

| I've used braided lines for salmon and tried it with Walleyes but have more misses. If I don't see the board drop back right away they tend to come off faster. With Mono you have a few more seconds to grab the rod which works well with youngsters and those larger rods. Mono is definately the way to go for me. Although I am no expert there are many more qualified here to address this but for the price I go with Trilene XT 10LB and have had the same line now going on 3 years Ya I know....It really is time to change but I haven't lost a lure yet.. so I'm still at it. I think I am going to go thru this season with the same line as it is already upon us! By the way...I use the same line for Coho, Salmon, Lake Trout and Browns in the Fall..caught many a 20lb ers but Not sure if it would affect the 30lb'er.

| off the subject but what rods do you prefer to use. are they fast or slow tips? long or short rods? |

I'm a mono-man. 12# Berkly Big Game Supreme. Never did like the braides for trolling. Particularily don't like their unforgiving nature in backlashes and rod-whip knots and tangles around the rod guides. Don't care for their unbreakable strength on snags and other rod-breaking, hand cutting mishaps during the course of a trolling day using up to 10 rods.
Everything about the mono is quicker and easier when it comes to breaking, cutting-off and retieing. And often, we have to let one or more fish stay hooked and be dragged around, while we play and land the fish being pulled in. I like the forgiving nature of the Mono in all these departments best.

Flouro for the leaders, but not the whole spool. I am using 12lb XT right now.

MB, I use 8'6" Diawa Heartland S rods. Medium with a fairly slow tip, but plenty of backbone. I like these rods, pretty inexpensive, and I like the length.
