| Sorry I didn't post earlier. Just wanted to give you a quick report on the opener on Lake of the Woods. To put it simply, slowwww. I did not hear of anyone who caught more than two or three fish, and stories of being skunked were more common, including myself on Sunday. Saturday was rainy, dreary, breezy. Fished hard from sunup to sundown. Five fish between three people, nothing over seventeen inches. We fished the west side of the lake, while the govenor was on the east side near the mouth of the Rainy River. As i understand it, the luck over there was no better. Hopfully we can string together a few seventy plus degree, sunny days to turn the fish on. Until then, I'll keep drowning bait, and dream of days to come. | |

| Mid-week they started hitting more consistantly, but it'll be much better more towards month's end. Got out Tuesday and Wednesday for a few hours each night, and picked up four each time in the eighteen inch range. I was anchored in the mouth of a shallow bay with a jig and minnow. Couldn't buy a bite with any other presentation though. In a week or two, they'll darn near be hitting on bare hooks. I won't get out this weekend due to a golf tournament, but I'll let you know what I hear. | |
