Location: Fond du Lac Wi. | Gold is for color units and classic is for black and white. Someone said classic has more detail. |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Split-Shot is right that gold is for color units and classic for b/w. But one does not have more detail than the other. The color units make depth changes much easier to identify. |

Location: Kaukauna WI | Sunshine and split-shot are correct but be aware of versions of software you use on the Lowrance locator. Some units you will be able to run gold it may best to check the Lowrance for software updates and Navionics site to determine what is best for your unit.

Location: McFarland, WI | I bought the Wisconsin gold for my global map 5000 and had to upgrade the software to get it to work. Upgrade was easy if you have MMC card reader. Download on blank MMC card and put it in the unit. It automatically upgrades the software. Mike, thanks for your help last year on the Lowrances-I upgraded all units and let them know of your assistance.

Location: Oshkosh | Gold will work in B&W units. It does in mine, and there is even shading shown for different depths (shown on deeper waters, like Green Bay).

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Brother Otis,
Gold will NOT work on ALL black and White units. It will work on a sellect few. People, please check with Lowrance or Navionics first before purchasing. |

Location: Kaukauna WI | Gold version is good but be aware some areas are not up to date on were locations are placed on chips. I talked to Navionics and they are planning on doing a full lake scan this summer.
