Member Posts: 3899 You want a 2 Stroke or 4 Stroke? I had a Merc 25 2 Stroke for 11 years before I got my new boat. This was a flawless motor, and started every time. Never a problem. It was a two stroke though, so I had to mix fuel/oil, and it did smoke. 4 Strokes are nice. Quiet, fuel efficient, and no smoke. Merc doesn't makes a standard 25 4 Stroke, but they do have a 30 carbed and a 30 EFI. Get one with power trim. They do make the 25 Bigfoot. All the manufactures make good motors today. Sometimes it comes down to price, and/or color. Pick one, get your best deal, and go fishing! Good luck.
