Location: Oklahoma | Hi, everyone. I just got back from a fantastic fishing trip with some really great guys this weekend. Myself along with Ron and Danny and several others caught over 140 smallmouth bass and 11 walleye. Also landed a beautiful Brown Trout as well. We ran crankbaits on planer boards and down riggers in apprx. 40' of water 130' back (PB). Weather was outstanding, a little stormy, but overall very nice.
All of the smallmouths were very healthy in size, and 20 of them were 20" in lenght or more. Many were over 6 pounds! My nicest walleye was 8.25 pounds and 28 1/2" long! I understand that it is a little early yet for walleye in this area, so I feel lucky to have caught what we did. I had a really great time, and the fishing was terrific. Next time I go to Erie, PA, I will certainly do this again!

Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | Very SWEET Dave.
I guess I don't have to ask what cranks you were using, being your the owner/operator of Dave's Ka'Boom lures. I'm very glad to see you actually getting to use your own product with such success. And I know you deserveed the time off, away from the molding machines.
Of course I became a fan of your Winning Streaks last summer on Saginaw Bay, when they became part of a successful arsenal both by themselves and when teamed with the spoon slider technique. But, I haven't been bitten by the Nitro Shiner bug as much on my home waters of Saginaw Bay, being our walleyes seem to prefer the shorter/stubbier versions of crankbaits the best. But your pictures sure make me want to try and break that train of thought.

Location: Rhinelander | I love fishing smallmouth, and yes, even those old green fish, largemouth. If I was on Erie during that timeframe and beat the bass up as well as you, I would be delighted also! One of these days I have to get out there. | |
