Location: Rhinelander | The weather dawned overcast and foggy causing a delay in the flight one takeoff. As the morning wore on, the weather turned to rain, wind, and to the north, hail. Within an hour and a half, it was sunny and 72 degrees. Those changes made for challenges for the 300 teams out on the water!
As the weigh in progressed, one team was held back...
As the final teams weighed in, it became apparent the team held back was the day one leaders. Doug Kreger and William Needles had the day one big fish wrapped up, and were in solid possession of first place waiting for the final teams to weigh. As Bob Senbush and Tim Eickert brought the last basket to the scale, Keith Kavajecz read off the weight needed. It was clear they had not only enough, but MORE than enough for the win!!
The weigh in was attended by a huge crowd of spectators, and MC'd by Walleye legend Keith Kavajecz and Mercury Marine Director of Sales and Marketing for Mercury Racing Tony Espisito. Mercury Marine President Pat Mackey was in attendance and distributed the checks and prizes.
The Lighthouse Anglers did a superb job working with the DNR to return many of the fish weighed back to the lake. Those that were not released were filleted by the club volunteers and packaged for distribution to charities. The hard work and dedication of the volunteers from the Lighthouse Anglers was nothing short of amazing, guaranteeing all releasable walleyes are returned to the system.
Next year will be the thirty year anniversary of Walleye Weekend and the Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament.

Location: Hartford, WI | Had a great time fishing this Tourney, It`s to bad our fish didn`t hold. That Thunder storm Saturday nite didn`t help at all.
A big thank you to all the volunteers that helped out with everything. They did a great job.
Hopefully we will be back next year to try it again.
Fishing with Chad was great , he kept a positive additude the whole time we were out. Thanks Chad Lets rip`em next year. | |
