| Last Sunday, returning from the Merc, I had a tread let go on one of my Carlisle Radials. did a bit of damage to the trailer. I called Carlisle, and from the DOT number, they determined that the tire was built by Goodyear. Thay have sent the tire in for analysis to try to find the cause, and sent me a damage claim kit.
My question. I hear good things about Goodyear Marathon tires. I will not use the 2 tires I have left, and want new tires. Is the tire Goodyear made for Carlisle the same design/construction as the Marathon? If so, any other tire recommended?

| OK, I called Goodyear, and they told me that the Marathon is, in fact, a completely different desin/construction than the tires they build for Carlisle. I've heard that Marathon's are the way to go, so have 3 new ones on order. Hopefully, they'll be in and ready for Friday's trip to Bago.
Rick Larson? Do you have anything to add? Just trying to avoid a dangerous situation again. |

Location: Chilton, WI | I work for a trailer company durring the summer months and I have put many different makes of tires on trailers including Carlisle and Good Year. From my expierience Carlisle is the poorest quality tire we have used. They have the most warranty claims and defects than any other brand. I think you made a good choice, I can't recall a Good Year warranty claim or defect since I have been there. Since we don't use Carlisle any more our defect pile has shrunk to nearly a quarter of what it used to be. |

Location: Lake Crystal, Minnesota | I had the same problem. The tire blew out on my trailer. Carlisle sent the tire in to be checked. I finally asked them what was going on and thwey replied it was not the tire. I did not get a dime and tire was 6 months old about 600 miles on it.

| Wish I would have run across this a few months ago while it was still fresh. A good friend of mine blew two Carlisles last year on the same trip. They looked like new -right up until the tread blew off. Goodyear sent him two new Carlisles -the wrong size -then sent him two more -the right size. He went with Goodyears. His claim for the damaged trailer is still in progress. No anybody who wants some cheap, (and inexpensive) tires? |

Location: Coatesville, PA | It's kind of a strange circumstance when the Carlisle tire is manufactured by Goodyear. You would think if the specs Carlisle is supplying to Goodyear were for an inferior quality tire, that Goodyear would step to the plate and not build the tire for Carlisle. Let's face it, would anybody here manufacture a product for someone that you knew was likely to fail repeatedly? I'm not trying to defend Carlisle tires, but is does seem kinda strange. |
