Location: Appleton WI | What line would you recommend for slip bobbers and panfish? I have been using Fireline but splitshots don't stay up on the line and always fall down. I was thinking about using Iron Silk or Trilene XT but want to heard what everyone says. Thanks

| Stratosboats,
I'd recommend Trilene XL 4 or 6 lb. A line with less memory works better for slip bobbers. I think XT is a little too stiff for that application, but it wouls work. I haven't used Ironsilk so I shouldn't comment, but most of the feedback I've heard has been bad.
If you want to stay with the Fireline you could tie on a 8-12' mono leader w/uniknot so your bobber stop and splitshot stay where you want them.

| Try P-Line. I use it and really like it. |

Location: Northern Illinois | I have good success running Sensation on my slip bobber rig. Fireline for jigging/rigging, XT or Leadcore or Fireline for trolling. good luck wm |

Location: Neenah Wi | If you don't want to respool just tie on a 3-4'leader of mono and your sinkers will stay put. Then you can still use the same setup for jigging too.Man am I ever cheap.I don't like the braids for slip bobbers as the bobber stop does not work very well.Whatever works for you. |

| I tried iron silk 6# for the first time last night and found that it kept coming off the spool despite being tightly wound and not overfilled. I would definitely not buy it again. |

Try finesse fishing with 2 pound XL. Big advatanges are it casts very easily with a virtually weightless bobber/sinker/hook rig, and plus, the line will slip through the bobber with a minimum amount of split shot.
Now, if you really want to fool those big bulls, use a 1 pound leader..
Should you try this presentation, I'd use a very limber pole and set the drag superlight!! |

| I use 6# XL for my slip bobbering. XT is a bit too stiff, and sometimes doesn't get through the boober to the knot. I have a couple older Diawa Slip bobber rods, 7'6", and they work great.
I tries fireline, and it does work, but found that it will wear grooves in your bobber, and hang up. Besides, I like the strech of the mono when I give that big sweeping hook set. Don't lose too many on XL.
AvgJoe, I have a couple jig rods set up with IronSilk. I have found the memory reduces with use. It's almost like you have to break in the line. So far, it is pretty tough line, and I'm beginning to like it. |

So you use ironsilk on all of your jigging rods or do you use some fireline? I am debating what to use on my jigging rods also and am open for suggestions.

| I have Iron silk on 2 jig sticks. My others have mostly 6# MagnaThin. I do have a couple extra spools with Fireline, but it doesn't get used much. I still prefer my 6# or 8# mono for jigging. |
