For Cystic Fibrosis
Dear fellow club fisherman. My name is Mike Mayan, I am with the B.A.S.S. Federated Club, The Oshkosh Bassmasters in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and WE NEED YOUR HELP! We were approached by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to host a bass tournament to raise money for their cause. So we set up Hooked On A Cure, set the date for September 19th, 2004, and have signed up some great sponsors including Mercury Marine, Nextel, and several other local/state supporters.
We have the opportunity to show the country that fisherman can also make a difference, and all we ask of your fishing club is a small donation of $50-$100 to a great cause. Then, pass this message on to as many other clubs as you can around the nation. This is why we joined a club in the first place—to be able to assist others and have fun doing it. If we all work together in the future, we could raise so much money for charities by giving so little, but we need to work together!
With your help we could blow the doors off of this and here’s why you should. Our tournaments CF Advocate is a young boy named Justin Krizenesky. Justin 6 years old, and needs to take between 3-6 pills per meal, just so his system is able to digest the food he eats. When Justin was first diagnosed with CF, the life expectancy was in the early to late teens—now the average life expectancy is in the early 30s. BUT, Cystic Fibrosis is still the leading genetic killer among teens and young adults. We need your help so that one day soon CF will stand for CURE FOUND!
We would like to include your club name on our sponsor board and I hope to have to keep building it bigger to fit everyone. We have radio time, some TV time, and newspapers to assist in promoting this years big event—but as you know, the bigger this gets, the more coverage we’ll receive. In addition, if you know of any sponsors that might want to participate or that have items that can be donated for our raffle/auction, please have them contact us—we will be happy to work with them. If you would like to join us on the lake and fish in this great tournament we would be happy to send you a brochure/registration form.
Please send your donations as quickly as possible so when we give the grand total at the tournament on Sept. 19th, we want everyone’s donation to count. I thank you for your time and hope you consider this opportunity to help fight CF! Please remember the more we raise for charities, the more pull we create for future projects on our waterways.
