| The first day of the WI RCL League Super Tournament on Lake Winnebago was Saturday, July 10th. 110 boaters and co-anglers were greeted to a beautiful morning, with a slight breeze, and a bright sun. The calm wind made for some buggy conditions out on the lake, and the algae bloom is full speed ahead. Some boaters went to the mud, some hit the reefs, some hung in the river, some to the upper lakes, and a few went to the Wolf River. Weigh in was at Menomonie Park, beginning at 3:00PM. When all was said and done, some very nice bags of fish were brought to the scales, and 15 skillfull boaters, were teamed up with 15 co-anglers for Sunday's shootout.
In all, 443 Bago eyes were weighed, with a total weight of 816 lbs. 66 teams caught limits. Way to go guys!

Casey Bohn(Red Ranger) and Greg Karch(Walleye X) cashed a check in 18th place. Just Missing the cut by 1 oz was WFer Paul Komp, aka Wolf Walleye. Just missing a check in 21st on the co-angler side was Mark Sheppard(Little Nephew). Trap had a very good showing in 26th with 9-12 lbs.
On a personal note, I fished with Chad Wiskow. We finished in 88th. Was a tough bite for us. We did catch a lot of fish, and threw back some 14+ early. The big fish just didn't go for us. I was trying to make the finals, and needed those big fish to advance. Just wasn't to be. But did learn that I went to grade school with Chad's dad, Steve. Small world, and I'm feeling older today! hehehe Was good to see Rick Larson, Mike Dutton, Sunshine, Clarenece and Casey Bohn, Lunde Dude, Crestliner, Jerry, Schmitty, Trautman, and more!

Location: Wind lake, Wi | I fished with Trautman on Saturday and had a great time. We worked real hard for the three fished that weighed 8lbs 01 oz. I think patience was key for us, we only caught four walleye all day but two were the ones that we were looking for and one that just weighed. We were marking tons of nice fish in our second spot but could not get them to go for us, maybe we needed that extra half-hour of time. Mike let me know if you want to come down for somw salmon action on the big pond. Nice to meet another WFer.

Location: Combined Locks, WI | Shep, Good seeing you. Wish we would have had more time to talk. I had a great partner, he was Doug Schultz from Manitowac. We caught a lot of short fish and at 1 pm or so only had two 14" ers in the box. Between 1 and 2 we got 3 -15's an 18 and a 24". That was only good enough for 8-14 and with two dead fish we dropped to 7-14 and finished 46th. We could have been 34th with no penalty. My fish were alive when I got back but an hour wait to weigh cost me two fish. However once the fish were put in the release tank they righted themselves and were actually released. But by then the deduction was counted. I think the holding tanks were getting pretty warm. Thats the way it goes though, and there will be a next time.
Now its off to the Petenwell for a WWA event next weekend.

| Sorry 'bout that. I knew Eye Lunker was there, just didn't remember his real name. Same thing happened to me at the Pete earlier this year with Trap, and I spent the whole day in the boat with him! | |

Location: Oshkosh, WI | Another WF'er here, Kris Achterberg (Perchie). Fished for the first time in this tourny series with Ritch (Eye Lunker). Had a great time with Ritch and I think we made a good match for Saturday as we pulled in a limit which included a nice 28 incher. I was disappointed in the 1 lb penalty that we were assessed as well for dead fish, that dropped us from the 15th spot to 17th. Still collected a check though. Looking forward to fishing the whole series next year. Thank you to Jim Hughes for helping me get involved in this tourney and thanks again to Ritch Shelly for the great time on the water.

| Mr No-Cajones(guest),
While there were some dead fish, it wasn't too bad, about a big cooler full. I will add them up tonight. And everyone of those was given out. Some spectators were given first dibs, and even I got to take a few home to clean for supper on Sunday. They were great! None of those fish were wasted. After approximately 25 days on bago this year, and hundreds of fish caught, I've kept exactly 12 now. Wonder how many the guy we saw on the rock hump on the north end has kept this year?
Perchie, congrats on a good finish with Eye Lunker. I think we should have a WF get together prior to the rules meetings next year. I'll get Steve to buy a round! hehehe

| Perchie,
Congrats on a great finish for your first event. Those are the ones that must get you hooked, and Shep, thanks for the excellent coverage from those of us that had to endure a weekend of drinking rather than fishing. Those darn bugs brought on a real bad infection in my fishing partner (Chase) early on Saturday morning as they got into his eyes and we had to get off the water after only 30 minutes. He's fine now but was blind for the better part of the morning.
Good Luck

Location: Appleton wi | Thank you Denny! And Perchie what a day hey!!!!I Couldnt have asked for a better non boating partner and your a good stick and i'll fish with you anytime. Our Big fish fish came at the end of the day and it was our 7th fish kept. We hit the same spot early and first in the day and managed to pull a 18" and a solid 15" there but we were overcome by other boats and departed to hit some other spots! Unfortunatly 2 floaters came back to haunt us like it did to some other tourny fsherman that day! The whole day was just another lesson for me and perchie!Good luck to all the top 25 guys going to the championship and especially congrats to boater Rick Boris and non boater kevin Glaza for top finish this weekand!

| Shep,
Excellent job on the coverage and pic's. Mark nice job backing the uncle up on Sunday! Looks like he taught you a thing or two! Enjoyed having you in da boat during pre-fishing also!
I drew EyeFever as a partner on Saturady. He is a great stick, knowledgeable and full of Christian Stories when the fishing was a bit slow. If you ever need a good stick give Jim a call, he is welcome in my boat anytime! Jim and I were in the same boat figuratively for points. We both were at 48 and thus needed a great finish. We worked hard and kept our focus. Patients is a virtue and sometimes hard to find! Never the less the fish did cooperate but we were 2 short which may have pushed us into day 2. Will continue the quest next year.
Jim, I will call you for some action on the big pond. Might be coming up Saturady. Will let you know.
For all the boaters and co-anglers, nice job this year. Congrats to the top 25 and good luck at the Championship!
Can't wait till next year, what will our new series be named????
FLWWL-Wisconsin????
Anyways, be safe and may your lines be tight with a bountiful catch.
Shep call me about pre-fishing up at da Bay!
