Over 13lb's seperating 1st and 2nd place, are you telling me they managed all that under the 41 bridge, all by themselves? Thats hard to believe but impressive to say the least.
Good Luck

They weren't under the 41 bridge. Sunday it was sad to see the other 4 boats that were basically trying to fish out of his boat. Some people just have no respect.

Congrats to all the teams that did well.

I knew where they were fishing and when I drove by to get to my spot on Sunday morning there was already a couple guys on the spot. Not cool.

One of them frequents this board.

Iagree & chris5150,

I fished nexted to them all day Saturday and Sunday Morning and was Boat 153 - 3 rd boat out on Sunday. On Sunday we had 1 additional boat join us and they stayed their distance most of the day. You can ask Dave and Del when they got there on Sunday Morning we both agreed they can have the primary spot back for I was not in contention as they were. So if you don't know the facts please don't spread rumors.

i was not in the tourney, but drove by there on sunday morning. one boat had a guy holding onto the pier of fertellos, another was tied up to the bridge by the flower pots and one more was on the other side of the bridge casting under it. i do not know how many boats were fishing there on saturday.

give them some space

I was told by Dave and Del that Mike moved out and and let them have the spot they fished Saturday. They made a point to let me know how much they appreciated Mike's proffessionalism in letting them more than enough room to fish the spot they had so much success on Saturday. They also stated that they did not have the right to tell someone that got to the spot ahead of them to move. As far as I am concerned both teams acted in a very PROFESSIONAL manner. I commend both teams on thier actions and as a Tournament Derector appreciate thier proffessional actions.

I think a lot of times we comment on the negatives and forget about the positives when it comes to this.

Along those lines, I wanted to comment on Jim Hughes and Matt Jacobsen. Late Saturday morning they watched my partner and I put a 19"er in the boat as they drove by us in the river. What a bad time to catch a fish, right when another tourney boat is going past in a no wake. Rather than pulling in behind us on our very short drift that was holding fish they complimented us on our fish and went on their way not to be seen again. Very professional and much appreciated.

They finished well, as they usually do, so they didn't need our help anyway. Class acts.

With one flight it would be very conjested at weighin time . We did fifteen minutes this weekend and that is really pushing the teams through. In effect what we are tring to do is weigh 40 teams in fifteen minutes, not an easy task. If we hold the boats to long in the bay we will have a higher mortality. Our goal is to release as many as we can back into the system.

Good job to all the top place finishers they had some decent # this year! Maybe Jim coon can answer a question for me. Is this years F.F tourny the top weight for the 8 year's of the F.F tourny exsistence? If not what was the best weight year? Thanks

Every one

My Partner John and I fished in same area we just gave way 10 to 15 feet on Sunday to the frist place team. I have full respect for Jim and Ray on how the ran this event and wish to thank Jim for his kind words. I was getting fish in this same area but was using too heavy of jig when fish picked it up and felt the weight I would not have enough time to react and set hook I was using a 1/4 once jig winners were using 1/8 once. Even when I changed to 1/8 once but in different color I didn’t get strikes as they did in black. I should reiized with current slowing down that I should went lighter jig.

Del and Dave are great men and I am proud to have worked with them and fish next to them for all along we agreed there was plenty of room to have our 2 boats in.

I will ask that this not get out of hand for I for one Hate Tail PIPING and don’t wish this post to get out of hand and take a great win away from Del and Dave.

Jim, Glad to see ya here! I hope your feeling better! I was being a bit facitious with that statement about a single flight. Your thoughts are about weigh in and the fishermen are more concerned about flights out. I don't believe in teamwork other than the member in your boat that you are fishing with, also the holding of places by other fishermen that are not in the tournament. If someone is on your spot I would think you should be looking for another spot to fish. There are many places to fish and crowding in on someone is totally unethical in my mind.

Had team 1 saw someone on their day one spot wouldn't you think they should find someplace else to fish? Why did they stop? Did Mike wave them in? Were they in line to get the spot after Mike got his limit? I don't know I wasn't there. Mike was kind enough to let them have it and I applaud him for that Although it looks like that spot gave up more than enough fish for that team to win by more than 13 pounds.

Personally I would have gone for my own weights because on tournament day it's me against me and not anyone else! But again I wasn't there!
Good Luck

The set up on Sunday was simple I got their first and then 28 boats behind came Del and Dave. When they arrived I had discussed with my partner a plan and we made the suggustion to both of them. It was who every got the first fish got the spot. They caught one at 7:30 and got the spot to fish. Plan and simple no holding just fun fishing and they did a better job at it. This was a one boat spot not 2 or 3 as current died down it was made smaller and smaller area of activitie. As Stated earler I had my chances but missed them Plan and simple. I will not allow for this to get blown out of hand. their was not hanky panky or team work done in this case at all. If you look at the board you see I caught 3 fish on Sat and 2 on Sunday.

Once again as any team that fished the river will say as current died so did the bite die on Sunday.

Interesting about the current tapering off and the bite also. I never thought of that, but we stopped catching fish when the sun poked through the clouds. Never did have enough to weigh on Sunday for the come back award. Oh well, always next year.

Again, congrats to all who did well. Chris

What ever happened to fish your own tournament? This is the problem with tournaments. Its tough for someone to fish by themselves, because you are not fishing against a boat you are fishing against a group of boats. If the trolling bite is on these groups get on their cell phone and ten minutes later all their bubbies show up. A spot in the river, you have a bubby hold it for you. It's not hard once you find the fish. Real professional. Did anyone ask the second place team how they feel about that?

In 1998 the first year we had 104 teams and then 149 teams in 1999. We have been between 150 teams and 160 teams the remaining five years
