I have my nose into something that has not been reported anywhere that I can find.....
As soon as I can I will do a press release on this as it becomes general knowledge. Hopefully I will get the confirmation in time before anyone else announces this....

I am sorry for the snag, but we want to be first with the news, not report what may not be tot6ally correct or to prematurely post some info that will cause an undue amount of discord....
So, when the green light is given....... |

Location: Menominee MI, In Da UP Eh? | I do not have a definite time line on this, and something went down that makes the story we were going to break a maybe not at all type thing....
Rest assured as soon as we get clearance we will let you know. If the story doesn't come to pass it doesn't come to pass.
It is not in our nature to tease and then say "Uh, uh, uh!" The only reason the post was puit up was it was a done deal as my source told me and that we had to wait till a certain time on a certain day to report it.
We may be able to report it soon, but then maybe not. So, in order to not create problems, speculation or rumor we, and certainly not I, will say no more on the issue unless we get the green light.
It is our goal, and I know I speak for Steve, Zach, Troy and Dave (also Slamr over on Muskie First) when I say we do not want to report anything that is not true or mere speculation. Please let it go until such time that we report, or if it breaks elsewhere.
We are supposed to have an exclusive on this, but the way these things can go, who knows.... |
|
| |
|
| If you dont want people to speculate, the prudent thing to do would be to delete this whole thread, and forget about it until you do have something to report.
Just makes sense. |

Then why say anything in the first place...
Besides, most of us don't tease all the easily - least of all by news of impending news on a web site... |

Location: Menominee MI, In Da UP Eh? | Howdy Brad and "a thought" !
I would gladly delete the whole thing, but felt I owed an explanation as to what was posted in the first entry of this thread. I figured I owed our friends here an explanation, not just a zipped post and no rhyme or reason to it's being gone.
When I made the post, it was told to me the exclusive story was a sure thing, a done deal. The press release that was written up was e mailed to Zach and set to go. I have an interview sitting here that was to follow up the post and be an exclusive fiorst here at Walleye First.
Then, the okay to put out the "scoop" was pulled and we were asked to sit on the story for a time.
Not wanting to put out something prematurely, or put out something that was to end up not correct would be even worse than what we discuss here.
I ask you to consider what if you were the topic of the release and had sent out word and gave an interview, then found out it was not a "done deal". Would you want us putting out a story saying you said or did something that wasn't true?
It is a fair assumption that you would want an accurate story, if any to be released.
I do admit now that we should have just sprung the story on our friends here and not done the teaser post. So if this story does pan out, we will just drop it in your laps and not tease to build interest.
We are not perfect, nor do I profess to be. But we all try to be honest and show a little integrity in our work here.
I hope this answers it for you. |

Maybe WalleyeFIRST should offer a minnow bucket to the person who comes closest to the truth........ if it materializes
Now look waht you started Ralph!!!
Looks like we're going to have fun with this...................
I heard that WC and WF are merging. That's why Dave is over here now, getting it all worked out. ESPN has already given this joint venture their blessing and will be using all video produced by Troy. Zach and Steve will handle the fishing industry and Scott will venture into hunting........... not bad 'eh? |

That sounds like a winner as long as the manufacture bonuses go to the rig owners and they get 1st shot at the tourney entry. |

| Maybe that some well known pros are switching motors and staying with their boat line?
Or maybe that some guys will run any kind of boat if the deal is right and will be switching boat brands again the coming year, again? again? again? (this would not be counstued as actual news, of course).

The FLW has just announced that they will open the RCL to any boat and motor. That's great news according to walleye Pro's interviewed from around the country. With bonus money for having the right boat, motor, electronics, underwear, gum, candy bar, and sunglasses on board, the championship payout could reach 10 million dollars to the lucky angler. The bad news being reported is that without bonus money, first prize in this prestigious event totals just over $1.27
Irwin Jacobs is reported as saying: “shut up or put up”. This comment was made in reference to all the complaining made by other boat manufacturers in regards to the high payout in bonus money. Brunswick representatives could not be reached for comment. They were reported being seen bowling.
In response to this late breaking news, the PWT announced that they will be lowering the qualifications needed to enter their tournament series. Starting in 2005, any subscriber to In-Fisherman or the Walleye Insider is eligible to enter. Unsubstantiated reports indicate that the MWC is considering giving a $5000 bonus to anyone not catching a fish in their Championship event.
Stay tuned right here at WF for further late breaking news................

Location: Midland, MI 48642 | I hate to be the one to break the news but this one is hot off the press. I heard Skeeter Boats was joining ranks with WF. Along with that each summer month a lucky member of this site will be drawn and he or she will win a new Skeeter boat. They are trying to work out the details on the motor yet. The drawn winner might have to buy the motor. Well there it is. Bet you didn't expect that huh? Skeeter

Location: Northern Illinois | If indeed Lake Milford is the PWT Champion Site for 2005, who can blame them? A big momma fishery at Houghton has not materialized in the past 2 championships. Maybe the PWT feels a more stable fishery is less risk and more attractive, although apparently not conducive to the huge weights that other venues are capable of. I for one would like to do a 3 day weekend in Houghton this October. WM. |

Location: Rhinelander | Skeeter,
That would be COOL. I worked as a rep for Skeeter for a few years back in the Parsons/Kavajecz Skeeter walleye boat development days. I started while Jerry Meyers still ran Skeeter, and when I left, the Meridian group was in charge, I think. Ken Burroughs was at the helm, and did a great job growing Skeeter.
Great rumor, I'll call Skeeter next Monday and ask them if there's any truth to it! |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | I'll guess TWO championships next year for the RCL. One for those who do the entire series and one for others who do a couple including those who qualify from other events. I'll guess that the top 50 are asked to do the new championship and then everyone else will qualify for second one. |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | The problem with keeping a thread like this going is that sooner or later someone will really guess the big news. Then what do you do? Pull it? Keep quite? Ask for permission to announce the big news after it leaked? Tough call.
Hear's my guess for the day..............
Mercury is coming out with a tournament series for 2005 similar to the RCL. It'll be for people with a Brunswick boat and motor ONLY. It’ll be a Pro-AM type tournament series with about ½ the cost to enter for the Pro compared to the RCL and it’ll only cost $100 for the co-angler. This tournament series will be a proving ground and qualifier for people trying to move up to the PWT.

Location: Combined Locks, WI | I think the real news involves the MWC. I think that is where Ralph was when he started this post. Maybe he can tell us what event he was at.
Otherwise, Sunshine one of your other posts may not be to far off. I see a FLW series for Ranger, Stratos, Javalin and maybe a smaller series for all other brands with priority going to Crestliner and Lund ( I believe they are still under contract.) So there you would have two championships and maybe Wolf walleye is right, 1 million to win. I see the series with Ranger being the top prize.
Just have to wait and see |

Location: Northern Illinois | I am hoping it is not yet another National Tournament Series. If the big news is a re-alignment of RCL, thats fine. All year we saw the boat and motor mfgers shifting and forming new alliances. If we are going to see additional circuits sponsored by the boat mfger's, I think walleye tournaments may start to get fractured. Look at NASCAR. You don't see the FORD Circuit, The DODGE Circuit and so forth. You may see dominance by a particular manufacturer for a period of time, but they each don't run their own circuit; no money in it long haul. WM |

| Dennis I think you hit the nail on the head. Merc/Brunswick will make for an awesome addition to the tournament circuit. The FLW capitolized for a few years and continues to grow and much like Nascar, there are Truck and Car races many with different sponsors. I like the fact that there will be something else to choose from, and as competative angling grows so must the competition for the dollars out of our pockets! The RCL took a lot of slack when they limited entry and so did Merc for their Merc Nationals. Although the people still came and the events were very popular! Now that Brunswick threw the wrench in everyone will be grabbing for it! Awesome news either way! But then again these are all rumors right, Ralph is the only one with the real answer now isn't he!
Good Luck

Location: Combined Locks, WI | I would like to see a Pro Am style series with entry fees about half the price of the PWT. Maybe $500-$600 entry on the Boater/Pro side and compete for half the total purse or maybe $10000-$15000 to win. Make them 2 day events and use it like a NASCAR Busch series or a stepper to the PWT. A minor league of sorts. I know the RCL has the Walleye Leagues, and I fished them but the purse isn't great. You can't expect to go full time tournament fishing with $3000-$5000 to win and $200- $400 for the last check cashed. $200- $400 doesn't even pay the bills for one event. I think there needs to be a series for guys that want to make the jump to the PWT so they can get noticed. Maybe if you don't maintain a certain performance on the PWT you get sent down to the minors and somebody in the minors gets their shot at the PWT.
Just a thought |

| I think this is what Ralph was wanting to share with everyone.
Kaz is "mostly" retiring from emceeing the Masters Walleye Circuit. We talked him into staying on board for the Championship, though, so he is planning to emcee that next year. Maybe future Championships, too.
I know Ralph interviewed Kaz while at Leech Lake. But we were wanting some time to figure out the schedule.
Watch for more details from Ralph -- perhaps an article tied in to the Championship this coming week at Prairie du Chien.
From all of us who love and adore Kaz -- we are happy for the quality time he'll have for the two granddaughters, son Steve & his wife -- and of course Beverly. And...let's not forget his golf game. He had his first hole-in-one on Tuesday 9/21 at his home golf course, Georgia National 11th hole. So he'll have more time for some of the very things that one works so hard for. He's earned this time. Let's all give KAZ a round of applause -- message board style. |

Plus, he is a great guy to be around. Maybe he can look into a little part-time standup comedy in Georgia. LOL

That was the item we were waiting for the green light to share. Thanks Kristine!
Watch here for a lot of info, the interview and more right at the end of this years MWC championship.
This is a big story, and we do not want to take away from the big finaevent that all the MWC teams worked to qualify for. The MWC championship is the anglers event, so we will have the Kaz interview and the rest to follow the championship coverage.

Location: townsend,wi | Ralph i kinda guess it when you came back from leach lake and said you had a big story. Kaz will be missed bt all. i remember when i started fishing the MWC back in 1989 it sure was some great times, and Kaz and Bev were just like family to all. How in the heck are they going to replace him? Can the MWC survive with out him? I don't think so! unless you take over as the MC! oh well just my thoughts. |

Location: Midland, MI 48642 | Clap Clap Clap to Kaz! One heck of nice guy. I have emailed him back and forth for sometime but was finally was able to meet him this year at the MWC event held on Saginaw Bay. Great guy to work with. He said then that he was going to retire and golf. I told him I was betting he couldn't stay away from all those guys he has worked with at all the different sites he has been to. They all treat him like family and vice versa. He knows some many people, and they all really like him. Watch he will start some sort of shark tournament out of GA. lolol Probably shouldn't laugh, he might. Nice to have met you Kaz! |

Location: Rhinelander | Kaz and I have worked together on and off for about 25 years. He's a great guy and was very good for the MWC. Believe it or not, Jim Kalkofen used to have the Michrophone duties onstage for the Manufacturer's Walleye Council, before the PWT was formed and this circuit was renamed Master's Walleye Circuit. I still remember the Board of Director's vote choosing Bob to take over those duties. He took to the task like a duck to water, and later he and Bev pretty much ran the show.
He deserves a very long vacation. That is what he really will be taking, because he has no clue how to really retire. |
