I really want to Thank Ron Seelhoff (Lund Pro), Rick Franklin (Crestliner Pro). For being so considerate and willing to take turns going over the fish. You guys will always have my respect. It was an honor & privilege to fish with you guys.

I especially want to thank Rick Franklin for being concerned enough about my being able to make it to the Locks on time that he turned around & checked that my 6 cylinder motor that was running on 4 cylinders had started.

Next weekend I'll breakdown my 10 days at the RCL Championship. What a ride it was, with ecstasy, suspense, drama, and the draining of all the emotions at the end. I guess a 13th place finish isn't so bad. But I'll be back next year, so keep your eyes peeled. Pat

Pat Cavins is one of the most underrated sticks in the walleye world. Give him a full season to rock and roll and you might see him zoom up in the rankings.

Great job Pat! Did you get local help? I helped a couple guys, and they did terrible. I think one guy quit after the first day, and I never heard from the other! I think they caught one fish between the two of them! It sure was a tough bite going.

It certainly was a tough bite. Seriously, in the two weeks I prefished, I only had one fish I could have took to the scales. They were either too small, too big, and not big enough! I had small hopes when I went out the first day. Then, a miracle happened...lol I my partner and I caught three fish, out of 9, that we could weigh in on day one! Good enough for 32nd place. On day two however, my hopes were higher. I figured I could at least repeat my first day's catch without any problems....wrong! I caught a bunch of shorts, and it wasn't until I started pulling lines in, to go in, that we caught our one keeper fish, that landed me in 61st place. Moral of my story? "Never Give Up!"

I had the good fortune to draw two co-anglers, who just so happen to be wonderful human beings, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Thanks Dennis and Irene! Even if I had zeroed both days, I still would have had the fun memories of fishing with these two people.

Pat, you did a heck of a job! You should be proud of yourself!
I know the feeling of standing there waiting for the last guy to weigh in, to see if you get knocked out of 12th place, as you did when Scott Allar was weighing in. The exact same thing happened to me when I fished as a co-angler in the very first championship the RCL held back in 2000. It stings, but it helps knowing that in the long run, they will forget who was in second place, but they will usually remember who just missed making the cut...LOL

See ya next year!

I also want to take this opportunity to thank the fine folks at FLW Outdoors for putting on such a fantastic show! Everything from boat check in the morning, to the weigh in the afternoon ran as smooth as could be. You guys and gals are the best in your field. I'm looking forward to the new changes for next year, and can't wait until Spring!

Pat I was really pulling for you to make the semi-finals. It would of been fun to see if two liners could have made the finals. Thanks for your help and see ya soon. Good job.

Pat:

You did GREAT!

I want you to know that there were many of us cheering you on back home. Many of us felt some of your pain when we heard of the motor trouble and just missing the cut.

Your a great stick and one of the rising stars in our profession.

Congrats.

Pat,

Congrats on a great tourney! We were rooting for you all the way. 3 oz was a heartbreaker, I'm sure. But, you have also earned the repsect you deserve. Hang in there, and get 'em next year. See you in a couple weeks.
