Location: Rhinelander | I'm going to head out tomorrow night to test if the big girls have moved up to the weedlines on my favorite pond here in Oneida County, WI. Are you hitting a special pattern where you are for the fall sows? If so, what's the general pattern? We are fishing big jigs in 11' on the green cabbage edges on gravel pockets. | |

Location: Annandale, MN | Last night we hit a local lake for trolling crankbaits. Water temp is 50 and the weeds are spotty on most of the shallow flats we fished. The walleyes were tight to the few remaining clumps and we had to cycle through baits as quick as possible to find a stick bait that would produce fish. Finally we found that a 6" floating rap in silver/blue would produce hits...three in a row from a real small area.

I have been having a blast pulling shallow shad-raps & thin-fins on the shallow reefs,150 feet back,on bago.No boards,just the rear pole holders.The little eyes of summer,have moved off,and the 18 to 28 inch girls are plentifull,last saturday morning,in three hours I had 12 eyes,nothing under 18.Thursday was flat calm and I managed 7 in two hours.Try the lakes natural forage imitating crank,on the breaks...hafe | |

Due to an unforeseen accident that held my guys up in Chicago, IL. for another day I spent the day working the waters myself.
Northwest, light winds were blowing this morning and really never increased too much all day and at the time of this report now calming waters is seen along with several boat lights out from the house.
Water surface temps. were running a bit cooler on the upper Bay at 48' to around 51' south of Gladstone here.
Fishing time on the water today was approximately from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, getting back to watch and listen to the Packers game!
I spent several hours working the shallow waters (3 to 6 feet) near the Whitefish/Rapid Rivers casting Husky Jerks in both silver/black and blue catching 2 really nice Walleye between 21 and 24 inches along with missing several other strikes.
Working the weedbeds is a good option this time of year especially early morning and that hour before darkness and into the night as many of these fish are feeding on the many baitfish here.
One of these fish after being in the live-well for a while coughed up a partially digested "goobie" and I'm assuming they are stuffing themselves everyday a bit more.
Next area I worked was the eastern shoreline break casting 1/4 ounce Stand-up Northland jigs tipped with a small "fuzzy-grub" body and medium size Redtail Chub. There still exists some pretty nice weeds along many of the breaklines both in the upper and lower Bay.
Managed to pop another nice Walleye of 27 and 1/2 inches.
Did talk and see numerous boats working the deeper waters today both trolling and live bait fishing.
Want to again say Hi too several of the "Walleye's Unlimited" guys that I talked to at the launch this morning. A great organization and a bunch of dedicated Walleye Fisherman, hoping the information was useful today!
