| I want to make sure we keep this thread on the topic of fishing, so I offer this little fishing story.
On a tour of Minnesota, the Pope took a couple of days off his itinerary to visit Lake Superior on an impromptu sightseeing trip. His 4X4 Pope mobile was driving along the beautiful shoreline when there was an enormous commotion heard just off the headland. They rushed to see what it was and upon approaching the scene, the Pope noticed in the water a hapless man wearing a Green Bay football jersey, struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 12 foot sturgeon.
At that moment a speedboat containing three men wearing Viking football jerseys roared into view from around the point.
Spontaneously, one of the men took aim and fired a harpoon into the sturgeon' ribs, immobilizing it instantly. The other two reached out and pulled the Wisconsin man from the water and then, using long clubs, beat the fish to death. They bundled the bleeding, semi-conscious man into the boat along with the dead sturgeon and then prepared for a hasty retreat when they heard frantic shouting from the shore.
It was the Pope and he summoned them to the beach. After they reached shore, the Pope went into raptures about the rescue and sid, "I give you my blessing for your brave actions. I had heard that there were some bitter hatred between the people of Wisconsin and Minnesota, but now I have seen with my own eyes this is not true. I can see that your society is a truy enlightened example of true harmony and could serve as a model on which other states could follow." He blessed them all and drove off in a cloud of dust.
As he departed, the harpooner asked the others, "Who was that?"
"That," one answered, "was his Holiness the Pope. He is in direct contact with God and has access to all of God's wisdom.
"Well," the harpooner replied, "he knows nothing about Sturgeon fishing. "Is the bait holding up or do we need to get another one?" |

| So these three guys are walking down the beach on vacation one day. One is a Bears fan, one is a Packers fan, and one is a Viking fan. They come across this wierd looking bottle in the sand, and one of the men pick'ed it up and a genie pops out of the bottle and tells the three guys "You can have three wishes, that's one for each of you.".
Well the Bears fan speaks up right away and says, "My dad was a farmer, I'm a farmer, and my son will be a farmer! I want all the land in Illinois to be fertile forever so we can always grow good crops." The genie said "That's good", and POOF, all the land in Illinois became fertile for all eternity.
Next, the Packer fan, who was totally amazed by what he was seeing, spoke up and said, " I want a wall all the way around my fair state of Wisconsin to keep all the other fishermen and Bear and Viking fans out of my state." The genie says fine, and POOF, there is a wall all the way around the state of Wisconsin. Needless to say, this guy really felt good about this.
Next the genie turned to the last man, the Viking fan, and patiently waited for his request. After a couple seconds while scratching his chin, the Viking fan spoke up to the genie and said, "Tell me more about that WALL." To which the genie replys, "It is 150 feet high, and 50 feet wide, and it goes all the way around the state of Wisconsin. NOTHING will ever get in or out of there."
The Viking fan smiled and then said to the genie, "Fill it up with water!!!"
Tune in tomarrow for another one!

| Geez, kinda quiet on this thread today. I thought about it all day today, and all night at work!
I run a restaurant when I'm not out beating up the walleyes, and through time I have learned, it is a good idea to help our customers out when ever we can. That is why we have two signs above each urinal in our public restrooms.
The first sign we put up for all our Iowa customers, it says, "Please,....Don't eat the big green mint in front of you!!"
The second sign says, "We aim to please, so you aim TOO please!!"

Your lines are funny, but did you really pay that much for a Hovan jersey? I think you got ripped (they are $15 on ebay). Three things are certain in life- death, taxes and the Vikings choking. Pack will be leading division after next week and they Vikes are starting the yearly fall. I must also add that you will have beer spilled on you for #84 scoring TD's, although it will be the guy behind you because Javon Walker is going to light your D up. The axe is home and the Pack is back.

| Actually, I still wear my Randle jersey. But I saw authentic signed Hovans for 250.
Personally, I like the guys attitude, but as for his play, I won't miss him to much when he's gone after this season.
As for tonights game, we are so banged up, I doubt it will be much of a game. You Packer fans will probably love watching it, but I don't think I'm going to enjoy it much.
Moss is out, Marcus Robinson is hobbled up with a bad foot, Muweilde Moore is out, half our linebackers are out or out of position tonight, and on top of that, this is pretty much a must win game for Indy. All in all, it don't look good for the Vikes.

Location: Oshkosh, WI | Glad to hear a Vike fan agrees on Hovan, Randle was a heck of a player and I was glad when he went to Seattle. As porous as Indy's D is it should be a shootout either way. Moore might be out but I think Onterrio and Bennett are back for you. Burelson and Cambell should have big nights as well. I think it will be like the Pack-Colt game, which ever team doesn't score a TD on a possession will lose! |

| I almost forgot todays humor!!!
Three convicts were on their way to prison; a mobster, a drunk, and a Green Bay Packer Fan. Each was allowed to take one item to help pass the time while incarcerated. On the bus, the drunk guy turned to the mobster and said, "So, what did you bring?"
The mobster pulled out a box of paints and explained that he intended to paint anything he could. He wanted to become the "da Vinci" of the prison system. Then he asked the drunk, "What did you bring?" He then pulled out a deck of cards, grinned and said, "I brought cards.
I can play poker, solitaire, gin, and any number of games." The Green Bay Packer Fan was sitting quietly aside, grinning to himself. The other two took notice and asked, "Why are you so smug? What did you bring?" Pulling out a box of tampons, he said with a smile, "I brought these."
Puzzled, the other two convicts asked, "What can you do with THOSE?"
Pointing to the box, he replied with a grin, "Well, according to the box, I can go horseback-riding, swimming, roller-skating..."

I think I would ammend one of your lines on your mastercard moments line. It should read, taking tour through Packer Hall of Fame and seeing what the Lombardi trophies look like- priceless!! That brings to mind a question, where is the Viking hall of fame located?

| Perchie,
As far as I know, there is no hall.
Your question makes me wonder, How many teams BESIDES the Packers have Halls of Fame? I honestly can't remember ever hearing of one. If any team were to have one, I would imagine they would be one of the older organizations in the league. When you compare the ages of the different organizations around the league, the Viking organization in relatively young. We didn't play our first game until 1961.
Question for you. How much time would it take me to see the hall when I come over this week? I might try to see it Sunday before the game.
All rivalry aside, I'm a Viking fan by choice, but was born a fan of the game. I'm really very excited about this chance I have to come to Lambeau, and watch a game there. I do appreciate the history, and there is a lot of it there.

Location: Oshkosh, WI | Taking the tour takes as much time as you want to spend looking at displays and reading about the history. There are some movies as well, I would say for you as a Vike fan it may take you an hour or two at most. If I were you, I would just concentrate on "pre game warmup" and save the hall for another day.
I am a fan of the game as well and once went to the Pro Bowl in 1994. On the flight home, I sat next to Bud Grant and across the isle was Randle McDaniel and Cris Carter as I was flying into MSP before going to Milwaukee. I got autographs from all three of them and was really intrigued by talking to Grant about the Superbowl years. It sure made the 8 hour flight shorter! |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | It was a great game to watch, with a great outcome!! Two fantastic QB's going head to head.
One of the most exciting games I have seen this year. The Viking coaching at the end of the game with clock control was a little suspect.
It makes for a very exciting match up this Sunday. |

| The whole game hinged on that left handed shovel pass at the end. That is what broke us, finally. Of course our first play of the game didn't help us much either.
Our linebacker play was TERRIBLE!! They blew so many coverages, and missed so many tackles.
What did Lombardi scream on the sideline in that film clip...."grab, grab, grab, ..NOBODY IS TACKLING!!"
In the end, it was closer than I thought, and the team with the ball at the end of the game won.
I still can't wait to come to Lambeau on Sunday though. I think it will be a good old fashion "Black and Blue Division" style match up. |

| They lost last nites game due to spotting the colts 14 points with poor defense and backwards offense, Typical Tice and Cold peppers, wasting 2 timeouts in the beginning of the half (and for what allready 3rd and 25), other team scored anyway, instead of at the end of the 1st half when they needed that first touchdown. Kicking 2 field goals cost them the a CHANCE to win, plain and simple. |

| How can you tell you've met a fairweather packer fan? They invite you into their home to show you their proud collection of VHS packer game tapes, but the 70's and 80's volumes are missing.
Q. What is the diffrence between a Packer fan and a baby?
A. The baby will stop whinning after awhile.
Q: How many people does it take to change a light bulb at Lambeau Field?
A: Three. One to change it and two to talk about how good the old one was.
Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Heaven, God went missing for six days. Eventually, Michael the archangel found him, resting on the seventh day. He inquired of God, "Where have you been?" God sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds, "Look Michael, look what I've made." Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?" "It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put LIFE on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a great place of balance." "Balance?" inquired Michael, still confused. God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth, "For example, Northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth while Southern Europe is going to be poor; the Middle East over there will be a hot spot. Over there I've placed a continent of white people and over there is a continent of black people," God continued, pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot and arid while this one will be very cold and covered in ice." The Archangel, impressed by Gods work, then pointed to a large land mass and said "What's that one?" "Ah," said God. "That's Minnesota, the most glorious place on Earth. There's beautiful lakes, rivers, streams and an exquisite shore-line along the Great Lakes. The people from Minnesota are going to be modest, intelligent and humorous and they're going to be found traveling the world. They'll be extremely sociable, hard-working and high-achieving, and they will be known throughout the world as diplomats and carriers of peace. I'm also going to give them super-human football team who will be admired and feared by all who come across them." Michael gasped in wonder and admiration but then proclaimed. "What about balance, God? You said there will be BALANCE!" God replied wisely. "Wait until you see the loud-mouth bastards I'm putting next to them in Wisconsin."
I hope everyone enjoys the game! I will, regardless of the outcome.

Always the bridesmade never the bride. It's always fun to take bets on when the Vikings will self destruct. The problem is thinking that the goal is making it to the playoffs.......not winning the playoffs. |
