Just sticking my nose in your business...how is your walleye fishing going these days? (I am in Oklahoma, and it is still quite warm here) I would like to know how everyone is doing, and how you feel about the past (and current!) season. Was (is) it better fishing than 2003? Larger fish? More fish? Overall a good season for you? I appreciate any and all feedback about walleye fishing! I had a great season myself, not too many fish, but some REALLY nice trips (Erie and Lake Superior), and I met a lot of really great people.

I attended the PWT Championship in Houghton, and had a great time meeting and greeting. I also spent some time in Appleton, WI and Oshkosh. Also in Minnesota and Michigans UP. I am looking forward to attending some PWT events in 2005, although I am not sure which ones. Hopefully all of them! Anyway, thanks to those of you who have visited with me and shared your fishing experiences with me. Anyone who wishes to send me a note is welcome to at [email protected], I would like to hear more! Cheers to a Happy Holiday Season and a Happy 2005, too!

Dave, We're still fishing here as the fall runs are producing fish here in WI. The bite has switched more to a live bait bite, Although I hear Bay de Noc trolling bite will go untill it freezes solid. The walleye fishing here and around Appleton and Oshkosh is going to be awesome for the next 3-4 years as we have had awesome YOY (year of young) numbers the past few years. If you make it back here again let me know! Dinners on me as your baits made my year a great one to remember.
Good Luck

Dave.

You pretty much know the Saginaw Bay program. Come fall/early winter, it's river time with jigs and minnows. Winter is Ice-Hut and Do-Jigger time. I have heard from different individuals that we do indeed have a open water trolling bite that few if any peole take advantage of during this time on the Bay. And I planned on experimenting and giving it an honest try this year with some bigger cranks like your Nitro Shiners and others. But old man "WIND" has been a real pain in the Arse this year.

As far as the 2004 season went on Saginaw Bay. I'd say it was yet another surprising year. In general the walleyes stayed more receptive in the outer reaches of the Bay. The Spring which is usually slow was good. The early summer was also good. The mid summer was good until around the first of August, when this August turned into late September. Then in late September, when I'm thinking of pulling my big boat for the season, turning down charters and telling people it's virtually over, it gets as hot as it was all year for Septembers last 2 weeks. Now I'm confronted with rather to change my chartering stratigies, web sites and timetables to get into this new fishing groove, or just write this past season off as a fluke. If this doesn't show and explain the true nature of fishing, nothing does.

Hey Dave:

This is the best time of the year for the big hogs in our area. The rivers are just starting to produce quality and quantity. The bays of the Great Lakes will continue to produce big fish right until ice up.

We are just now starting to experience the cold weather associated with better fishing. This is my favorite time of year. I get to “fun fish” for the big girls while most are in the woods. If you’re looking for 10+ pound fish this is the time to be on the water.

If you can make it happen, why not head to Bay de Noc around Thanksgiving. I could show you the merits of that awesome fishery anytime between Nov. 20 to the 28th. My treat!!

My 2004 tournament season was successful and the guide trips went up substantially. I really think that we live in “the good old days”. For various positive reasons (C&R, stocking programs, improved water quality, better educated fisherpeople etc.) fish quality and quantity keeps getting better and better.

Your products helped with the 2004 success, Thank You!!! I look forward to getting my hands on the new KA-BOOM! Shiners. They will be great for 3-way fishing the rivers and trolling the lakes this coming spring.

First of all I want to say I am excited about being a part of the Dave's Ka-Boom Pro Staff for 2005! I can't wait for next season to begin already.

I wish I would have knowen you were in Appleton for a bit. We could have met and gone to lunch or dinner.

As for fishing, well I don't hunt so the boat stays out untill ice up. I just got my new boat and I have been putting in some time on the water. I am catching some nice eyes up in DePere. These are Green Bay fish. Going to give the Wolf river a try this weekend and gonna see about going to Bay De Noc next weekend. This past summer was great. The Ka-Boom shinner was my bait of choice this year in the mud on Winnebago. I am looking forward to the new Shallow Ka-Boom shinner for next summer. You have seen some of the photos already of the fish caught earlier this year on Green Bay. Here is a pic of the fish that won me the catch and release division of the Master Angler Contest. She came in at 31.75 inches.

Good to know that the bite is still going! (You'd think that I would know everything about fishing) I learn a lot from folks like you that share their experiences with me and others who visit this site. It is great to see some pictures of some really great fish, too. The two times that I got out on Erie and Superior I spent most of the time barfing in a bucket! I was really disappointed that I got sick...but, I guess that happens sometimes! I did manage to catch a TON of smallies on Erie, though. I would also like to share a picture or two.
Thanks for posting some great information guys and please keep it coming!

Nice pictures folks.

Dave, if you and Ron aren't too busy, I'll be at Bay de Noc for a week starting the 26th of November. Fishing up here is just getting good as the water temps. have dropped to near 40. When they get in the thirties, there's a short window before she frezes and the bite for big fish is unreal. If you and/or Ron have the chance, c'mon up for a shot at these huge fish. You can send me an email or call me on my cell. Hope to hear from you soon.

Jerry
