Yes, I know you guys are all hunting the Big Buck and chasing Muskies, but I had to try the "Walleye factory" lake Koshkonong... Took my friend Nick along he's only caught one eye to date on the Yellow river, so I figured If we really got on those 6-7lbers we would really get him "hooked". Jim AKA Neverskunked took us in his boat for some quality time. We wre inventive enough to set a vice as a 2nd anchor "to set us steady in the strong current"... Well - all I can say is that the DNR are planning on a genocide winterkill again this year... they drew the water levels down to about 2-2.5 FOW in most areas of the anyhow shallow Koshkie... The overcast and slight drizzle got as all pumped up about "hammering them"... granted we did not get "skunked" but with a single keeper at a notch over 15", a couple lost a fat carp and a few shorties just do not cut it for justifying the "factory" deal... After we left we stopped at the Jefferson dam for a few casts - guys before us had a couple of keeper eyes but I only hooked 2 transparent minnow sized fish :(... Off we went to tying Brown spawnsacks for a morning trout chase...took us a while but I think we did a decent job. Woke up bright and early but lingered quite a bit until we set up our heads on where we should try and stop scouting for crowds of successful fishermen. Salmon were well moulded up already but we still managed one just for the heck of it - all steelies were spooked too easy so we decided to check the harbour and coastguard on our way home... Sorry to say this but God save Your Great Lakes... Gobies are in and I know what these guys are capable of - for the 5-7 mins we watched guys got 2 or three on spawn and minnows ... scary! At the coastguard we saw a fish that did not make it in the right direction for the spawn but got stuck between the bars of the drain cage... uglyyyyyyyy...
Well that was my two day fishing trip all in all... I know me and my carp... that second one I got a few days earlier on 6lb test so it was quite a pumper...
