| Anybody hear if Gander Mountain is going to offer an even bigger payout for the GNWC Championship this season?

Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota | The only way I know to increase any tourney payout is to enter and fish it, or incease the entry fee. The ntry fee remains at $210.00 per tourney for this year. The more Teams fishing creates a larger payout. Now as far as the "Extras" That the GNWC gives out at every tourney I don't know.... |

| Dutchman,
I get that. I meant since it is the Gander Mountain GNWC I just was wondering if they were going to sweeten the Championship purse, like Wal-Mart does for the FLW events.
Also, are there any new divisions this year for the GNWC?

| Check out the website walleyecup.com. They are giving out 2 fully rigged Skeeter boats to the National Championship winners, and raffling another off between all National Championship entrants. Skeeter also paying bonuses if you win any tournament, or are the top placing Skeeter boat in the Regional Championships. I don't believe there were any new divisions added this year. Dave S. |

My guess is Gander will not be sweetening the pot this year. |

Location: Rockford MN | I think what the offer the winners now is alot! Look around a team events, this is a HUGE payout for a curcuit of this size! Fairly easy to qualify, in that for the most part you are fishing home waters NO out of stae factors!
2 boats to the winners of this curcuit is more than enough! dont you think? |

| Nosey Rosey, Do you know something about the prizes that isn't on the web-site? Go to walleyecup.com and they show the amount of payment over entry. |

| Dorkrigger,
I am just asking about Gander Mountain and if they are going to work with the GNWC. Last year it was promoted so much, by the tournament circuit owner, that Gander was onboard. I was just wondering how involved they will be this year.
I can read a website, it just seems that some new news is never posted at tournament websites until well after the news has been released. Just wondering what any of you have heard. Just want some chatter.
Just wondering out here in the cold.

| The word on the street is that Gander Mountain dumped the GNWC sponsorship, but I have yet to see any announcement publicly. I have not heard the resons behind it, if indeed it is true.
Does anyone have any more info on the validity of this? |

Location: Rockford MN | Gander just picked up the Gennmar Line of boats to sell out of its stores!!!!!
This might be the reason? |

| I haven't heard anything like that,.....yet. I guess it would not be a total suprise if it happens, considering that the GNWC is giving away Skeeter Boats at the Championship, and Gander just announced that they have signed a deal with Genmar to sell their boats at certain stores.

According to press releases Gander has a three year contract with the GNWC 2004-2006.
Maybe they do, but I would have to guess that many of those type contracts have certain stipulations, and escape clauses written into them as well. |

| We have a three year contract with Gander Mountain through the end of 2006 and there is no escape clause.
Our relationship with Skeeter and Yamaha would have no bearing on Gander's contract or the relationship between the GNWC and the Gander stores that will be selling boats.
Entries are coming in strong and we are expecting our best year ever on the GNWC. We are giving away more than $150,000 in prizes over and above entry fees and we have signed several new national sponsors for 2005. We are excited about this season, anbd I hope you are too.

Location: Elgin, Illinois | I would say, regardless of the sources, that $150,000 in prizes over entry fees is a great deal. The PWT doesn't even payout equal to the entry fess...
Great Job you're doing Bernie... See you in a few weeks at La Crosse... (wish it was only a "few" weeks)... |

| SO, Gander Mountain is an active sponsor for a couple more years? |
|

| Pwt gives out cash and boat for 1st place not just a boat like GNWC does which also is a better brand. They dont over price the value either. I think their purse is bigger as well. Is Gander stiill giving out gift certificates at the tournaments or did they back out on sponsorship? |

| The GNWC is not trying to be the PWT, Jigmeister. I fished the GNWC last year and it is a well run organization that can serve as a good beginning tour for tournament anglers. It is growing fast. Of course it doesn't have the payout of a PWT, but anyone can fish it and most can afford to if they desire. If you don't like, don't fish it. Dave S. |

| I was replying to the above post. I would still like to know if Gander is going to be giving out gift certificates this year or not as part of their sponsorship, or what will they give as a sponser? |

| I think what these guys are asking is what is Gander providing to these tournament for the tourney angler. I don't believe any extra money is put into the purses. I suppose they are helping with covering operating expenses. Are there prizes you get from Gander? |

| Nobody answered about Gander Mountain. Are they in or out as far as being a sponsor of the GNWC?

Location: Rhinelander | The industry grapevine was alive with Gander Mountain sponsorship rumors last week. I heard Gander Mountain cancelled sponsorship for a couple trails, one of which was the GNWC. I'll give them a call as soon as I can to try to confirm what's happening out there with Gander and competitive walleye angling sponsorships. |

| Who knows? Maybe we'll be seeing a National G.M. Pro Team out on the pro curcuits soon. Something along the lines of what Cabela's is doing!
Sponsorship money can be used in many different ways. It all depends on who is making the decisions at the top level. |

| The GNWC is alive and well and we are going to have the best year ever. Nosey is apparently a coward who isn't willing to make a phone call, but just wants to fan the rumor mill. I posted the info earlier and even included my 800#

| I heard the same buss about Gander, Sworrall.
I don't interrupt Nosey's comments as anything negative towards the GNWC. It appears that the GNWC is expecting a bigger and better year in 2005. I believe Nosey is just wondering how involved Gander will this year and what they are providing to the anglers. For example are they putting any extra money into the purses or will the purses be from anglers entry fees. For example, I believe the PWT, FLW and MWC championship purses are all provided by sponsors. |

Location: Rhinelander | I didn't interpret any of the comments as negative to the GNWC either, nor would I think that one sponsor makes a circuit. I'm sure the GNWC will do just fine either way! |

Location: Chicago IL. | I know Bernie, and if he said things are fine with the relationship between the GNWC and Gander Mountian thats it. I dont mean to stomp on anybodys toes here. I have fished the gnwc for 2 years and seen the GNWC take hit after hit in IL. The guy took a loss for 2 years to try to make it work. He could have pulled out anytime. I still will fish the GNWC in different states because of the great job him and his people do. |
