A new club has formed in Dekalb. We will be meeting the first Tuesday of the Month at Twin Tavern on 1028 south fourth street in DeKalb. The first meeting is Tuesday February 1st at 7 pm. Annual club dues are 20.00. The club will eventually hold club tournaments on the Illinois River and other local waters, have club trips, and monthly speakers. It is a great way to meet other walleye anglers, share information, and learn from each other. I will be speaking this week about the Illinois River and some of the techniques I use there. For any information or directions call me at 815-501-4539 or email me at [email protected].

Good to see a group formed in the area. If you would like, place all the club events in the WalleyeFIRST calendar, it automatically displays events on the main messgae board page when the event date is close.

Surprisingly, the northern Illinois area is not bad for Walleye's...

There are some decent catches throughout the Rock River. The problem is all navigational. Some areas are decent, others are not. Best to have a Jon Boat with a jet motor in those areas...

Pete has done a lot in a short time. He is very dedicated to fishing whether it's guiding or competitively. No doubt he will run a good, successful club. He will help you out any way he can without holding info. back.

Good luck Pete!

This club is already off to a decent start. Nice turnout today with a lot of cool people and knowledge shared.

Had fun and look forward to it continuing...

Anyone in the area should come and check it out...

When you folks go to the meeting make sure and get a Smilin' Mike sandwich. I hope that is the right name Pete. Anyway, it is a tasty chicken sandwich with marinara sauce and I think a slice of provolone.

Now I just need to get Pete to bring eats for the radio show on Thursdays.

I am really happy with the turnout last night at the meeting. I look forward to next month's meeting. if you are in the area it is definitely worth your time to come out. The Northern Illinois Walleye Club is gong to be a success. I will remind you all about the next meeting on March 1st at 7:00 pm when it comes around. At this meeting I will be explaining more about the Illinois River in the spring, and about some of the areas I fish during this time of the year. We will see you there. Oh yeah I almost forgot, Dave is right about the sandwich, it is killer. Maybe I would bring some eats to tomorrow's show, but we will be too busy talking with our great guests Mike Gofron, Juls Davis, and Rick Lacourse to have time to eat!!

Great first meeting for the NIWC. The knowledge from the first meeting was worth my $20.00 as was the fellowship with meeting other anglers. I'm looking foreward to the next meeting.

Good to hear that walleye is taking over Il. Good luck in the future and remember that the inportant thing in any club is the member's that you already have. Build on that and everything will fall in to place.

Yeah Jerry I am fishing all six this year, I am looking forward to this season. Can't wait for Spring. However I am going up to 'Bago next week for Sturgeon season, it should be a heck of an experience. See you on the water!

I'm not fishing the PWT this year. I'm still licking my wounds from last year and without Erie on the tour I feel like a Democrat running for office.

Chris and I are doing the MWC east and a Challenge, possibly the FLW in Port Clinton, a GNWC, MWT, or a KAWA or 2, and running the inaugural Triton Boats/LEWT (Lake Erie Walleye Trail) circuit so I'll be busy. Good luck this year, I'll be watching for you and Jerry to rip them up!

We got our new club off the ground last spring and it is growing well. If I can be of any help, get ahold of me at: [email protected] As a matter of fact we are having a paty next weekend to celebrate our first year. Info can be found at www.wbsa.us for anyone interested in attending.
