Location: Rhinelander | If you were headed out trolling on your favorite waters anticipating a crank bait bite, what 5 lures would you bring if you were restricted to that number? Colors and size, too.
What rigs would you bring if you were going to pull spinners, 5 only, colors and blade size?
I'm interested to see what the differing waters demand regionally and across the country. |

| It would depend on the time of year, conditions, etc, my top 5 cranks for Erie are probably:
1) Reef Runner Eriedescient (Mooneye is sneaking up on Eriedecient as my top neutral color)
2) Reef Runner Purple Demon
3) Reef Runner Ripstick Cheap Sunglasses
4) Rapala DHJ 12 Glass Shad
5) Reef Runner DLR Blue Hawiaan
Blade/bead size and color would depend on what I was pulling them with (i.e. keel weight, snap, dipsey, jet...) depth, etc.
1) Red/pearl beads #5 with single #5 Colorado gold holographic baitfish blade
2) Pink/green # 6 beads with a #6 Colorado silver holographic baitfish blade
3) Chartruse #6 beads with a #6 Firetiger blade
4) Red/green #6 beads with double willow (#6-I think) gold with green/red tape
5) Same as #4 but Purple beads and gold blades

Location: Rhinelander | it's interesting the bright colors preferred so far by many. I also see a fair preference for Purple in places, too. Anyone else? |

Location: Rockford MN | I love Purple on the Great Lakes, the purple Reef Runner they are talking about (Purple Demon) is more of a flourescent color because of the pinkish bottom. I like that color and lure in the darker or stained waters also. I see that alot of the guys that have giving there favorite colors , fish Winnebago. Do you run these colors because of the water color and then run the more natural colors when its clamer and the water is clear?
I like purple beads and silver blades on that gin clear water of the great lakes. I use alot of the natural color combos on the clean clear lakes up here in MN. Like perch patterens, or rainbow colors.
5 Things I would never be without:
Beads- org. cht. red, and purple.
Blades- rainbow, silver, gold, cht.
Cranks- shad raps, reef runners, thundersticks
A good Mapping unit i.e Lowrance 4000
A boat load of good rods- Loomis and Cabelas planner board rods! and some planner boards! |
