Subject: Fox Lake Ice!!

I will be heading to the Fox Chain of Lakes next month to fish the PWT Event April 20-22. I am sitting here in Dryden Ontario Canada looking at four feet of snow and 36" of ice. I was wondering how much ice is there currently on Fox Lake and what are the predictions on ice out. My assumption is it will be later than usual.

I live on the Chain and the good news is it's starting to break up.Most of the upper lakes are ice covered but the lower lakes have big holes where the river or moving water is.I was at Halings last week and about half of Grass lake was open. The river from Johnsburg to the Mchenry dam has been ice free for a couple of weeks. The forcast says 40s for the high and high 30 for the lows.I don't think there is much ice left,Last time I was out it was only about 8 to 10 inches and that can leave quickly on the Chain. The river up north of the chain is very high yet the river in McHenry is as low as I can ever remember it.If you want ask again next week and I will give an up to date report.Paul
