Location: Elk River, MN | Hey guys. I have a Lowrance X67C. Sudddenly this year, it seems to be working intermittently. Oddly, it seems as if will only register depths less than 20 ft (appx). It will work fine for a few minutes and then the display slows down to a crawl, becomes cluttered and my depth display number will just continuously flash. You can still see the contour of the bottom somewhat, but it is not as defined as when its working properly and the screen has more clutter on it. If I shut it off and turn it on again, the depth sits at 0 and flashes. The temp is reading just fine as far as I can tell. Then after I move the boat to another depth, it will come back on for a bit and work fine, then go away again. I have turned all other accessories off as well as the boats ignition.
HELP!...lol
Thanks guys...
Jim

Location: Rockford MN | Jim it sounds like a transducer problem, the unit sounds like its searching to find the bottom and bumping the power up. I would try to find someone with the same unit and try there transducer with you're unit. Maybe take it to where you bought it and see if they will help you out. If all else fails you can call Lowrance to see what they might suggest. Also check it out at home on the driveway, you can turn it on and you should hear it ping loud! |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | Yes, you should be able to hear and feel the transducer ping. Put your hand on the bottom of it. If it doesn't give out a continuous rhythm ping, then there's a problem with the transducer. |

Location: Manitowoc, WI | If there is a specific action which causes the locator to not read properly, then I would call Lowrance about it. The technicians there should be able to do some diagnosis over the phone with you. Was the locator doing it when you turned it on to check the ping? If it was and you can feel and hear the ping and it is a consistent rhythm, then it will need to be sent into Lowrance for repair. Be sure to have your receipt from the purchase of this unit so they honor the warranty. |
