| I am considering buying a boat with a 1998 150 opti . The boat was owned by a well to do gentlemen that is not real mechanically inclined . He says that all maintenance was done by the dealer or his brother-inlaw.
The boat and motor was used on a chain of lakes in northern WI and this gentlemen is 63 now so I don't think he ran it real hard but you never know . I have seen the motor and the skeg is scratched up petty good and the stainless prop is dinged . Also there is a 1 1/2 " peice of cavitation plate that has been broke off the trailing edge . What are your thoughts on this motor . I am going to take it to a dealer and have an inspection done before I make a decision . What all needs to be inspected ? I was told compression , ignition , hours , lower unit . Is there anything else ? What kinda numbers am I looking for from this inspection ? Sorry for being long winded but I want to be sure and respect the opinion of the guys on this site.

Location: Elgin, Illinois | My guess is that a rough range is $12-14K... Condition makes a big difference... Great condition could be $15k... Average would be at $12k... below average could be as low as $9k | |

| Hey,
I realize this post is old, but I feel the rig your telling me of is worth more than 12K. I would say more in the neighborhood of 15K in good condition. Check out walleyecentral.com....they have some boats that maybe will give you a better idea as far as price range....if I could get my hands on a '98 692 for 9K, I'd grab it, as you won't hear of a deal like that often.
