Alarm on 150 Optimax

Wondering Posted 4/30/2005 9:29 PM (#31779) Subject: Alarm on 150 Optimax I have a 1998 Optimax 150 hp with 144 hours on it . Tonight while ideling to the dock the check engine light came on and the alarm sounded every 3 or 4 seconds . I got to the dock and shut it off . Went and got the truck, backed the trailer in . Started the engine back up and alarm and light were gone , was able to power on the trailer no problem . Anyone else ever have this happen , got any ideas as to what causes this ? To be sure, you can take her in and have the dealer plug it in to see what code comes up. THERE WAS A GASKET THAT WAS LEAKING CAUSING THE WATER INTAKE PUMP NOT TO SUCK IN THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF WATER TO COOL THE ENGINE. ALWAYS DID THIS WHILE IDLEING. AFTER A NEW IMPELLAR FOR THE PUMP AND GASKET TO SEAL THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED.........
