Location: Freedom, WI | Caught 17 Walleyes today out in the mud on cranks up high in the water column. Best speed was around 2.1-2.3mph. Fish ranged in size from 11"-21". Had one other fish over 20" up to the boat only to see the hooks come out. Oh well I will get him next time! Natural colors outproduced bright colors today by a longshot. Fish are scattered, but the active fish seemed to be high. Kept one lure deep all day and only caught Sheepshead. Some big arcs out there, go get em! |

Location: Oshkosh, WI | Black and Gold rapalas was hot last week, up unitil Houge's tourney, then it turned off of course on Sat. Chartruese was hitting good the other day better than gold. Those two colors have been the only two to give me luck in the last week. Have not found any big ones yet, mostly 14-17 inchers about 6-8 feet down. Which I found to be odd with how clear the water is. |

Location: Omro,Wi. | The mud bite has been good one day and turned off the next day.A lot off fish are coming down from the upper lakes, the water temp on Poygan was 76 on Wednesday and Bago was 68.The main thing I've noticed is the forage they are on now, small walleye minnows from this year, that came down the river, and spread out over the 16 to 18 foot mark off Oshkosh seem to make up most of their diet.Yesterday I pulled a 3lb white-bass with a crank that had a new eye minnow and my crank in its mouth.I also had a 26" eye on Monday that had a 6" sheepshead that it spit out on the floor of the boat.I don't trust either the river, rocks,or mud this time off year. They all change from day to day.Monday the first 6 fish added up to 28 lbs. Tuesday the same place, weather, and wind came up with only 5 18" fish.Thursday we pulled 10 eyes betwwem 16 and 21" in one hour, today we got 4 in that place, all 13".The wind came up and I found the school had moved almost a mile to the NE. from yesterday.Once we found them the picking was easy, not many fish over 20" but still 12 for the pan.with 3 back in at 20 plus.If you have been on fish, they are going to move NE from your waypoint, and get pushed somewhat down wind from a direct line.Travel distance on the 2 schools I've followed has been almost 1/2 mile per day.The schools on the East shore have come apart, but the new fish back are holding togeather off Oshkosh. They will scatter when the baits gone, and the sheeps are spawning now,off Oshkosh and that helps to attract the minnows, and eyes. Most good fish are on the outside of the sheeps, but not far away from the school.I've got to hand it to anyone that puts togeather a stable pattern this time of year, with me some days you are the bug,and other days you are the windsheild.Every time I think I've got them figured out they change their pattern.Next week is Merc, and it's going to be a crap-shoot if this pattern keeps up.Anyone on some big fish Wednesday next week please let me know.I don't even trust my favorite spots now! |

Location: Kaukauna WI | Great reports guys!!!!! I've been doing well on Poygan till now, but with very clear water out there the trolling bite has gone away for now. (at least for me). Giving "bago a try this weekend, will report, good or bad. |

| Trolled out off the east shore today, found a nice pod of good size fish. Biggest fish 25" ,lives another day. Three of us, 15 for table fare, plus released 5. Had a good morning. It's just going to get better. Good luck |

| Fished Bago for the first time this year on Friday.... west shore, #5's (perch) 50 feet back in the mud, 2.2 - 2.3 mph took me 3 hours to find the fish and figure it out, but once I did... caught and released over 20 fish including a couple of 23's and a number of 18+. Marked a ton of fish from bottom to top. Tried to fish deep all day and changed baits every 20 minutes deep... nothing. Every fish came 25 - 50 feet behind the boards with #5 shads.
Key for me was finding the fish and changing depths until I hit the right combo. When the wind picked up, it drove the fish down and additional 3 - 5 feet. Active fish were up high all day... caught fish from 11:00 am till 7:00 pm.
I though at one point..... I was going to be picked up and carried away by the bugs... what's with all the bugs???

Location: Kaukauna WI | Started out of Oshkosh pulling harnesses, only got two in first 3 hours. Didn't mark many fish, and what were there were 13' down to the bottom. Then moved farther out to middle of lake, saw many more fish but still deep. Switched to cranks and we got two more. Largest was 18 1/2", smallest 14". Conditions seemed more favorable than our results showed, cloud cover, nice breeze and storm front moving in. |

Location: Kaukauna WI | Because of the wind today, did not fish the mud but headed for the west side(westerly winds) and hit the rocks. Had a blast , caught and released 20 eyes mostly 14 to 17" a few whites a few sheeps and quite a few little smallmouth bass. By far the best bait was the #5 walleye color shad rap. 25 to 40' back depending on depth. Boat control was a little tough with gusts to 30MPH!!! Also starting to get that annoying cottonwood fuzz on the line and some weeds stirred up from the storm. |

| Was outs and abouts on the mud today and did poorly. caught 3 eyes all day. and quite few sheeps!! Anybody else do any good. We fished out of oshkosh probably 3 miles. With this hot hot weather are the fish gonna be higher or pushed to bottom. Frustrating day!!!! |

Location: Omro,Wi. | The mud-bite is one of those things that really has no set pattern. It can be good for a couple days, and then nothing you did yesterday works.I pulled 12 eyes from it Tuesday and only 4 came on the same bait.Depth also varied from area to area out there.Watch the graph and in this calm hot weather periods,it pays to shut off your engine after marking fish and watch your graph closely for a hint. Some fish are just under the surface, others came from 12 feet and still some from the bottom 2 feet.Speed is very critical after the fronts come thru, they get even more picky then. Most cosistant pattern has been the edge of the sheeps schools.Depth and bottom contour has made a big difference also.Wath you map countours even in the mud.Good luck! |

Location: Kaukauna WI | Hafe... your right on about the difference a day can make. Monday pulled 20 eyes from a two mile stretch of rocks, went back Tuesday and could only scratch up two from the same area, doing the same thing. Found two more fish for the rest of the morning five miles from there, tried everything and everywhere. Tried Poygan Wed. and trolled up a limit although smaller average size than on Bago. Today went back to that same spot and got nothing but sheeps and cats. Did find one lone eye about four miles from yesterdays spot!!!!! Put on lots of miles and had trouble with my 115 Yamaha four stroke. An alarm went off, not sure if its oil pressure or temp. There was a pee stream but it looked a little weak. Came home and back flushed cooling system and changed oil hope to try again tomorrow. Will report back. Hope no more troubles.. |

| I was just out near black bird..... what a difference a few days make.. last friday i boated over 20 fish, today, it took me 10 hours to catch 9 fish and not one was over 14 inches....
I was watching this incredible thunderstorm over Fond du Lac thinking " it's going east and won't hit me here", we picked up and made it back to the landing in Menasha just as the skys opened up... and there were a lot of guys still on the lake.
Any ideas for Friday.... I need to take a client out tomorrow????
I marked a lot of fish all day today, but could not get anything to really hit like I did last week, and I tried everything!

| Started out on Garlic Island Friday morning, (I got 20 fish there last Friday).....fish there but I coud not get anything to hit, switched to east shore off Stockbridge running 19 feet of water along the countour line and cought 15 fish in 3 hours, # 5 shads, perch 60 feet back 2.1 mph. Nothing over 17 inches, and also lots of whitebass and sheephead. I don't think we sat down for 3 hours. I also tried deep for an hour and caught lots of sheaphead but no Walleyes.
Other guys in our group got bigger fish in the middle of the lake from the mouth of the river in Oshkosh running nightcrawler harnesses.
That makes it 2 days in a row I got chased off Winnebago by a Waterspout........
Be on the water next week every day (vacation) I'll keep posting.
