Location: Menasha, WI | Finally got out for more than a 'quickie' trip this morning. Was on the water at 4:40, had my first line wet by 5:00, and had an 18" 'eye in the boat by 5:05. Orange/gold harness in 14'. Should've just went home and gone back to bed after that -- the reef I was fishing was shortly surrounded by other boats, the wind died, and the next five hours poriduced a half-dozen sheep, couple whities, and two very small smallmouth.

| I waited till 1:00 today to get out on the lake and give the boys from the tournament time to leave..... Started out long linning mansers... picked up 2 nice 18 inch fish and then I was immediately surrounded by 3 guys that came within 20 feet of my boat and started trolling right in front of me.... as well as 2 other boats... come on guys.....
Got so frustrated, I went to Garlic and fished the mud in 19 feet of water on the countour line, all by my self, #5's perch, 80 feet back... picked up an additional 2 nice fish, then I headed over to the east shore where I caught fish 3 days in a row..... the wind picked up just as I got there, but I did manage to catch and release another 2 nice fish on #5's again....
Headed back to the Menasha river with a stop @ Lighthouse reef.. in 30 minutes I caught 5 small eyes all 8 inches long....
Pretty good fathers day...
Won't be on the water till Saturday... have to work all week...
Anyone have any advice on fishing the mud in higher winds... I just can't get anythin consistant going when the wind picks up!!!
Any help is appreciated and I'll return the favor!!

Location: WI | I suggest, when the wind picks up, bring your boards closer to the boat, and drop a couple lines a little deeper. You can also
drag a sock or two
Advise from a nobody who can troll pretty well.

Location: Neenah Wi | Went out on sun.also.Started off oshkosh and headed north. Not a fish until I got just outside of stevens reef.Pulled 3 fish and got surrounded by a few boats. That took care of my trolling lanes and decided to head for haystack picked up one more fish and called it a day.The #5 shad raps were the bait of choice perch was the best color 30-40ft back. When I headed for stevens there were 2-3 boats after I pulled the 3 fish there were 10-15 I kept the net on the floor and I still got caught.Oh well there"s other spots to fish.I had a few short hits only to pop off after about 10seconds or so,pulled the board back and then nothing. Those were not sheephead because as you all know sheephead don't get off.LOL Its off to Kewaunee to get a few salmon on tues am.Hope the rain stays away. |

Location: Fremont Wi | I was out sat. and had a good day in the mud on both #5 and harness, but I did have a problem with a sail boat I was on a slow drift and it almost ran me over, needless to say it took out all the lines on one side of the boat. I was wondering if there are any laws about how close they can come to you. |

Location: Oshkosh, Wisconsin | If you are under power by any motor the sail boat has the right away. If not I believe sail boat has right away unless they are powered by motor and you are not. The only way you could have right away is if you are anchored. |

| Seems several of them have an attitude about their right-of-way rights. A couple weeks ago I was trolling in a Northerly direction well to the west of the two big balls they had positioned on a North to South orientation. An instructor buzzed within 2 feet of me at a high rate of speed as I was traveling at .5 mph with my bow mount. A few minutes later as I was headed farther away he sent about a dozen of the sail boats with students at the helm in a NW direction away from their course and over all six of my boards. My buddy in I looked in amazement at one another and both of us said that was intentional. Knowing the rules, we had given them a wide berth in spite of the fact that we had been trolling that area for two hours before they buzzed out with power boats and dropped their markers directly in front of us. Next time we aren't treated with mutual respect we will anchor in their course and jig over the side. |
