Wow, heck of week got to fish with Jon Tennison while my girlfriend fished with Scott Glorvigen, who did not get impatient with her inexperience and taught her a lot of new fishing techniques, a lot more patiently then me. Got some great pointers on electronics from Scott and Jon. Scott even took the time to talk to me several days later and gave me great answers to some questions I had about reading a graph. Saw the new Avionics chip that will be out to the public soon, it is just assume, a must have. Caught a 22 inch walleye and placed in the VIP tournament and won a ton of prizes. Watched the PWT championship, something I had wanted to do for years. The closest previous championship to me was 700 miles away. Bought something from nearly every vendor selling things at the outdoor show, including the Kwik PFYT (the brushes you put on your truck to protect your boat from rocks) even though I didn't own a boat. Got to meet a lot of very nice pros, I had only read about. I've fished several RCL tournaments as a co-angler but these guys are some of the legends of the Walleye world I never got to see before. Watched them fish one day during the tournament and see the weigh in for three days. I was armed with the weights I needed to win both contests and when Dave Andersen pulled out that last fish, knew I had won them both. A great exhibition in fishing catching 10 out of a 12 fish three day limit, in a tough bite situation. With the heat we had this summer and the fact it is a late summer, and all the fronts moving through during the week a great job. See Chase Parsons entertained stage show and feel his pain when he came up just short, as a Rookie an unbelievable feat, what a year.

So I said what the heck lets make this the perfect week and decided to buy one of the boats won at the tournament. One of the nicest Pros I had ever met delivered it the next day over an hour from the weigh in spot and backed it into storage where I am keeping it until I can get my truck wired for a trailer with brakes. He then gave me pointers on his recommendations on how to take care of the boat and products to use, even though he must of been exhausted from the tournament and it was over 95 degrees, and probably over a 100 in the storage place. If you didn't think that was enough to make my year, I got to meet Steve a heck of nice guy who worked hard to get the great pictures he got at the weigh in and on the water and of course got my picture posted on Walleye First!!! I just wore my first Walleye First hat out and glad I won another one.

I speak for a lot of Kansas Walleye enthusiast when I say thanks to the PWT for taking a chance and coming to Kansas. We previously had the Cabelas NTC and the crowds seemed to get bigger this time. I know a lot of people don't agree with the destination, but I think it will grow the fan base in the end. They made a lot of fans, especially among the kids, the future of any sport, many who just got there first rod, reel and tackle box at the event; This can only help the sport grow. For the PROS the more people exposed to sponsors products the more money they are going to be willing to ante up.
