Location: Chilton | Does the Sportsman's Wharehouse in DePere carry live bait? I thought I read here that Bob's bait and tackle was going out of business. Is there somewhere else in Green Bay that carries bait?

Location: Manitowoc, WI | The gentlemen who owned it wanted to retire, plus they were getting beat up by some of their competition, specifically Mills Fleet Farm, Gander Mountain, Sportsman Warehouse, and Wal-Mart. Personally it's beyond me why anyone would choose to shop for fishing or hunting equipment at a Wal-Mart or K-Mart knowing that they're biting the local hand that does more than just sell them goods. Bobs was a great place to talk fishing, get fishing reports, and observe/perform seminars, as I had the pleasure of doing them there the last two years. They were always easy for me to work with and they would go out of their way to help fisherman and hunters out. They will be missed. I wish Tim, Marcus, Darrell, Bob and Tom well in their futures. |

I have been one of there customers for past 3 years and almost always stopped there either before or after i fished the bay.The guys there were always friendly and helpfull I also agree about supporting locally owned business i also use sportsman on wisc ave in appleton before i go to gander or fleet and buy new poles or reels I often stop at sportsmans and a few times was cut a deal on equipment they beat the big stores prices.After 20 years in biomedical engineering i am ready for a career change and have been looking for business to purchase and want the business to be something i love and thats fishing

If you are serious about this business I suggest that you contact the realtor that is selling the business. I'm not sure who is showing it, if anyone, but I do know that the 50 storage units come with the building. I also thought about venturing into this business but given today's economic climate I decided to wait and see. Good luck if you decide to try it. |

I've looked into buying a bait and tackle shop some years ago, and what I figured out is that the business will save you money more than make you money because it keeps you from going fishing all the time. Give some serious thought to this. Loving to fish, and owning a bait/tackle shop DO NOT always go hand in hand. Any time people would want to be fishing, you have to be at the store providing them with what they need. You will not get nearly the time to fish that you do working a regular job. I'm not trying to throw a dampner on your fire, but just be certain of what you want. Good luck to you! |

Location: Rhinelander | A sports shop can be a very tough business anywhere, yet the specialty shops still do pretty well even in a town that has two or more big boxs. It seems that the Hubting shops that also sell fishing do OK against the big box stores, and in some cases specialty fishing shops. Just the cost of heating and keeping the lights on in a store these days is scary... |

| I stopped in at sportsman in depere for the first time and though its a nice store with many diferent outdoor sports stuff its nothing like bob's had for spinner baits. There bead and spinner section is little and has the same stuff that gander or fleet has. Does anyone know who the supplier was for bob's in gb for his spinner blades?Or website fpr the manufacture of them? |

| A large selection of BOB's Bead's and colorado Blades came from Xtreme Tackle, Sportsmans in Appleton and Tew Two's carry most of the Blades that Bob's had. The Round beads a Stacker beads also came from Us. The facetted beads were packaged by them (Bob's). Sportsman has the beads we supplied Bob's and Tew's is putting them in before Spring.
