Location: Orland Park, IL | 12/2 Mississippi Reever with “Hutch”..BITTER
Spent Friday feeshing the mighty Mississippi with guide and hair jeeg extraordinaire Hutch and Val. This will mark the 15th post cold frontal pattern feeshed by me (over the last 2 years), a personal best.
Launch @ 600AM. Truck temp read –7, but probably closer to 0. Skim ice everywhere. Launches frozen, but we busted one up to get in. Reever higher than normal, with good flow. Conditions were cold, with a light breeze, although it picked up later in the day. Water temp a balmy 32.3.
Feeshed the just below the Genoa dam and down reever. Ice flows make it tough to feesh with a constant freezing of tips. Marked quite a few feesh, but few takers. Had 3 feesh all day for the party, in the first hour or so, one keeper walleye, a saugeye, and a sauger. No skunkola, but made for a tough 8 hours of feeshing to follow. We had menos, but didn’t use em. Too cold. Primarily feeshed reeng worms on Hutch’s customer jeegs. A couple of hair jeegs were used too. Pull 3 ways and learned a lot about the reever. Feeshed deeper holes, 18 to 28 feet, and various “rises” in the reever.
Very nice country in Prairie Du Chein. The customary stop at the Cabelas made me feel a little better about the treep. I am glad I made it out.
Although cold, we were comfortable. Multiple layers with a one piece the key to keeping warm. And I do mean warm. On boat propane heater helped the hands stay warm. Still haven’t figured out the best cold, open water glove solution but did use a neoprene with felt insert. Worked ok. 3 jersey gloves were pretty good too.
I got Hutch’s number and will be booking a spring treep. Very knowledgeable and genuinely nice guy. Was a wealth of information. Wouldn’t volunteer much, but if you knew how to ask, what to ask, and were prepared with a followup, you got what you needed. I certainly learned a lot. |

| I have seen the heater in Hutch`s boat but I never saw it turned on. I think it is for ballast.

thats why you didnt catch any fish komo, you guys wasted to much time burning gas, running up and down the REEVER
Don't let em razz ya Komo. At least you were out there trying versus scratching your Azz at home. Good job.

seems you like to hear your own opinions express. heck, you even like to answer your own questions.
Forgive me Guido. I just like sticking up for the guys in the right, no matter how they spell or talk. You might try it sometimes, unless you like that type thing. And I Didn't realize you were the Mississippi board police.

| Express.
I've been reading and fallowing your posts for about 3 years now. I've seen few people use their real names and share as much as you have during that time. And even fewer that have taken the verbal abuse and inuendo for doing so, as much either. But you might as well go back to the General board and the people who appreciate what you have to offer. Theres just to many Guidos on this board to compete with. |

| Gesh Rocky, are you still stuck working in the mud or do you have a hook stuck in your finger. If ya do I'll come over and take it out for ya. Promise it wont' hurt . Much that is. I actually went back and look at the post a little closer and ya see guys I'm not the only one out there wearing da-goggles. You say "heater". Tell ya what I wish that day we would have had a HEAT HOUSER around the boat. It was mighty cold for sure. Hutch |
