I've heard that Gander has LED rope lights that run on 12v batteries. I guess they come with 6' wires with clips and are designed for use in portable fish shacks. $10/each.

Have any of you tried these, and what do you think of them?

I've seen guys using them on LBDN this year and it looked like they threw off quite a bit of light. I was tempted to pic up a set at Scheels a few weeks ago. One of the guys working there attempted to demonstrate how they work but for some reason couldn't get them to work propperly. The first set he tried only 2 LEDs lit up. He took another one out of a different package and couldn't get that one to work either. As one would suspect I wasn't real impressed with the demonstration and opted not to buy them. For what its worth, thats the only experience I have with them.
I will probably make a set myself this winter. They are pretty easy to wire up.

We use them in our duck blind, they work very well. I think they would be perfect for an ice shack.
