| Larry as far as equipment, you'll need a tall glass, as for bait a bottle of Makers will catch you more "fish" than anything else! |

| If I can find enough clothes to keep warm.... and I show up on time.... would someone be willing to show me how to catch a walleye through the ice.... I could even be talked into bringing my deep fryer and a few walleye fillets.... just in case.

| Well, with the forecast next week, I don't think there's any way I'm going on the ice on Bago. Mid to high 30's all week? What is up with that? I figured we were going to have a good winter this year!
So, if that weather forecast holds true, we may have to get the boats out! Or just have a get together at a sports bar, or something.

Location: Menasha, WI | I think you're right Shep. There is no way the ice will be drivable on the 14th and I doubt folks will be willing to walk out far enough to have a chance at fish. Re-scheduling would be wise. |

Location: Neenah, WI | Yesterday the ice heaved up about 3 feet right in front of the Paynes Point Hook and Spear Club landing. I'm talking 30 feet off shore. There's only about a foot of water there in the first place, so it was a surprise. I've never been an eyewitness to a shove before so it was really something to behold. I've witnessed spring breakups before but never something like this in the middle of winter!!!!!! My friends shack is about 2 miles out in front of the clubhouse and he ran his 4 wheeler out yesterday. Here's what he found: 12" of ice by his shack. a new crack has opened up to about 6'' wide nearby, while the big shove 3.5 miles out is still working. Our landing remains closed to anything but 4 wheelers and snowmobiles. Things don't look so good for next weekend. Ol' Ma Nature has thrown our little get together a nasty curve ball. If any of you are out and about today I'll be at the clubhouse on Cty. A selling memberships until about noon and then I'll be at the bar watching football and sipping a cool one (or 2). With a month to go until spearing season, let's hope for some better conditions. |

Location: Waukesha Wisconsin | Makes no difference to me what we decide to do. I kept that date open on the calendar with the excuse to see a few people and shoot a few pictures for a possible article. Truth be known, I was like Dale, coming to socialize with my buds and have 1-2 adult beverages. Unfortunately for me, I will have the boat show season starting the following weekend, so if you reschedule the date, I will not be there. That's okay, do what is best for the group.
If anyone is looking for an alternate diversion, the Milwaukee Boat show will be the following two weekends. Stop by at the Main Marine and Ski booth.

| In light of the impending warm spell, I think it would be prudent to postpone this outing. However, I think it might be fun to get together anyway. Perhaps we could all meet at Payne's Point and have an adult beverage or two? Maybe watch some football, and tell some lies? Dale, is the clubhouse bar open to the public? Maybe even a few would join up? If not, perhaps another spot?
Dennis, Razz-ma-tazz is closed, so that is out! hehehe

Location: Menasha, WI | There's no bar at the clubhouse, just some Old Styles in a fridge I think the bar Dale referred to in his earlier post is Mike's just a few blocks south of the club on Cty A. Since it doesn't look like we'll get together fishing, but I'd be up to meet for a beer or two (I'll still go fishing in the morning ) |

| Viking, I'm with ya in the morn if ya have room!! The bar I believe is Vinlands just down the road right on "A". I have a wheeler and hear the ice is safe enough yet for that! Anyone interested in a beer or two early afternoon? I believe they make awesome bluegill. They somehow got a hold of Mr.Bluegills recipie I think! Gonna have to see if they are open and cooking Sat!
Good Luck

Location: Neenah, WI | I would suggest Paynes Point Bar. That's the one on the corner. Mikee serves the best burgers in the area as well as a sumptuious fish lunch!! That's the bar where I run the Pop's Tournament from and Mikee is a big supporter of the Paynes Point Hook and Spear club as well as sponsoring a few tournament guys (me included). If we want to meet up there I'll let him know we're coming and see if he'll set something up for us. I think it would be fun to put some faces with the familier names on here. We might not be able to get out and fish, but I know we can all spin a few yarns (sounds better than LIES).
Let me know. |

Although the ice will be too unsafe to get out on, I'm looking forward to meet 'n greet! Should be fun.

| Dale, there ain't too many things that would give me greater pleasure than going to your "watering hole" and drinking YOUR beer. But I'll be headed for the river for pig eyes and sassy saugers. Are you and Ginny fishing the MWC this year? |

| Looks like Bago has good ice but deteriorating rapidly!
A number of wheelers went through over the weekend.
I'm game for a beer or 2 around noon. Vinlands is also right on A and a very nice place next tp Paynes Point bar and bait shop? Does Mike own both?
Good Luck

Tyee, I had made plans to fish Saturday morning with someone else before I saw your post. Maybe we can get together when the ice is in better condition. |

Location: Neenah, WI | Tyee- Nope Mikee owns Paynes Point. The bait shop and bar next dooe are different.
Jayman- You can drink my beer anytime. The thing is, I thought I was your hero and you would buy!!!! Nope, we're not fishing the MWC this year. I put my resume in on a new job and they called my bluff and hired me. Vacation time is short so we're doing local stuff only.
I'll be at the bar around noon and for those that want to show up, we can at least TALK about fishing!!! |

| Stopped at Payne's Point Bar around 12:45 to find Dale and Viking there, sipping on a cold one. I had Eric with me, and after introductions, he settled in at the trivia game while we waited for our food order.
Had some great conversation, and a couple cold ones. The burgers are great! Thanks Dale, and Bob. Had a good time. We'll get together again, when the ice is safer, or completely gone! |

Location: Neenah, WI | Yup, it was a fun time. Once the ice is gone we'll have to get after somw Walleyes. It sure looks cruddy out there now. Seems like the ice creeps up onto shore a couple of inches a day. Sturgeon season could be interesting!!!!!!!!!! |
