Weds Reid had keeper fish in 17-21 feet of water on or in channel from dam to about 1.5 miles south. Thursday same depth but I only had a short time before dark to fish so I spent that time on the east side dame wall areas... about two fish and hour. Nothing over 17" lost a lot of minnows though so I didn't have my hook setting "Thang" going yet so I will never know on the ones I didn't get. Out again this evening and may do the ,(near????),Full moon overnighter. Electronics show good numbers of fish spread out all over the basin.

Got out on pool nine Thurs & Friday nights ..Sat and Sun. As usual this time of year lots of boats came in empty.... and several boats came in full... digital camera on the fritz again so I took a picture of three freinds catch. They had 2 in the 5 lb range... close to there limit and a bonus of 10 or 12 15-20 inch catfish. My biggest fish for the 4 days was 22 inches.

If there is any pattern this time of year it is the fish moving around a lot following the dying shad.,(I think). you would have a bottom full of fish in one area for a n hour or two and then the bottom would change into a ghost town.

The second pattern seens to be no flow no walleye/sauger. If you haven't been there yet , they are working on the lock and areas of the dam are closed... it is quite obvious where the flow is .... the only thing that might not be apparent is the back flow to the dam on the east side starts clear up on the end of the bullnose instead of halfway down the wall which makes for a nice drift all the way back up to the dam. This is where I got at least 90% of my keepers this past week. Depth was 17-22 feet(humps).

You will also notice that on the long wall the current is almost dead and that you have to be a little farther down the east riprap to be in any current at all because of the Lock work. Most folks,(that catch any), are catching their size and numbers in the middle of the channel where the majority of the current is. Left and right sides are pretty much closed,(don't forget the back flow on the east side). Unfortunately most of that water,(center with current), is deeper and you need to keep what you catch..if its legal.
