I didnt know I was going to a seminar on lowrance electronics and niether did anyone else that attended???? the paper said ice fishing? hmmm I guess some people cant understand black and white. I guess I should have waited for a good speaker to grace the floors of my local gander mountain.

No idea what you are talking about; perhaps the original program had to be changed. That does happen sometimes because a speaker can't make it, etc. I'm sure they had no intention of misleading anyone, they certainly should have the need to sell ice fishing gear too.

I can clarify.....I was the speaker at Sportman's Warehouse. There were supposed to be two other manufacturer's reps there but they didn't show up. The manager failed to tell me that he wanted me to speak about ice fishing techniques and fishing on local lakes. When I agreed to do this show/seminar it was to represent Lowrance with a showing of the x-67 and m56 ice machines. After I was done he then explained what I was supposed to do. I had absolutely no idea that this show was intended to focus on ice fishing techniques and fishing local lakes.

I apologize to anyone who was there and expected me to do more than I did. I tried to stick around and answer any questions that anyone in attendence had. There was an opportunity for some good information sharing afterward and many who did attend came up and asked about other fishing subjects. If you're looking for something strictly related to ice fishing I recommend checking out Troy Peterson's schedule and see where he'll be speaking. Sorry for the mixup.

Who ever "why not eye' is, I see no reason to take a shot at the speaker the way you did. What you said is just plain wrong. As mom used to say, shame on you!

Not a big deal to me stacker. I've been told more than once that I rate quite high as a speaker and given the number of return engagements I have scheduled this spring there must be a little truth to it. Why not eye must have expected more or something else and he wasn't satisfied with what was given.

Apparently, from the few emails and private messages I've received, this thread needs more clarification.

I approached Sportsman's Warehouse back in December when I heard they were planning an ice fishing seminar/show. I told them I was a Lowrance represenative and that I would like to bring in the Lowrance Ice Machines for display and I would be happy to show those who attended this show how to use them and also give a 5-10 minute talk about the products and any other new products Lowrance would be coming out with. Lowrance is asking their pro staff to get the word out on these ice machines, especially in Wisconsin, as they are starting to dominate the ice fishing sonar line in Minnesota and wish to do the same in WI, ND, SD, IA, and IL. The arrangements were made and the date of January 26th was set for this Lowrance ice fishing sonar showing, along with products from other manufacturers. Another individual was expected to be there to talk about local ice fishing lakes and different ice fishing techniques.

When the day of the seminar/show arrived, it was learned throughout the day that the others who were scheduled to be there would not be available. I got to Sportsman's Warehouse at 5:45, moved in my equipment, set it up at the table, and prepared myself, my products, and my material for the 5-10 minute talk of these products. A crowd of 25-35 people showed up for this event. I was introduced as the speaker for the evening and proceeded to talk about the Lowrance line of products and asked the crowd if they had any questions. After a few Lowrance questions were asked it was told to me that they (the attendees) were there for tips on ice fishing. AT NO TIME DID ANYONE TELL ME THAT THIS WAS WHAT WAS EXPECTED OF ME!!! I answered a few questions about ice fishing and some others about fishing Green Bay, Lake Winnebago, and other open water fishing. I invited all who attended to come up and operate the Lowrance products, along with answering any other questions.

Given the poor communication, I thought that many who attended went home with some good information. I again apologize for those who attended and were disappointed with what took place. I too was very disappointed and hope to put this behind me. Thanks.

Jerry

I sure wouldn't have been disappointed. Sounds like an informative evening to me.

I don't personally know Jerry, but if someone, anyone comes on a site like this one and gives GOOD sound advice to people in need how is that bad for the sport? So called "Tooting ones horn" sometimes is just informing people of how the plan has changed this year. If you are doing this as a business, just like any business sometimes you make major changes.

If you went to this seminar and did'nt see what you expected..... well sorry, you still could have learned something from it, and isn't that what it's all about? Learning new things???
