Location: Saskatoon, SK, Canada | Haven't been able to find much more info about the new 1890 since first photos came out a couple of weeks ago but I see the Tuffy website has just been updated with pics of the boat on the water, looks impressive. Anyone know what kind of speed it was getting with the 200 Opti or have any additional info on this boat.

| I did some of the testing on the 1890. The boat with a stock 200hp Opti consistently hit 60 mph. The site will soon show video of the boat which will show it running at those speeds. |

Location: Rockford MN | I'm going to run this boat this year with a 200 E-Tec H.O, they just had the photo boat out on the water and it ran a cool 60 mph on the gps on some short runs. The boat had a brand new Opti 200, and was running double oil. They should have video footage up soon on the web-site!
Zach ran the boat and when I talked with him he sounded very pleased! I can't wait to get mine on the water and see what she will do when fully weighted and broken in!
This should be be one smokin hot boat this year!!! Check the site in a day or two, Zach is working on getting it up and running. Production is in full swing, if you want one before the season I would get my order in!

| Yes as Gordy said yes we have been very pleased with the boat's performance, and we are very excited to have Gordy run this boat on the FLW this year. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact the factory in Lake Mills, WI at 1-800-359-4416.
1890's will be at the upcoming February shows in Des Moines, Milwaukee (Milwaukee Muskie Show this weekend) and Madison.

Location: Saskatoon, SK, Canada | I know it's still pretty cold out there but after some of you have had the chance to spend more time in this boat I'd really like to hear some comments on how it performs after you pull the throttle back and get the rods out. What are your opinions on how it fishes, boat control, layout, storage, livewell etc. Also, how does it handle once you add a kicker and 2 electric motors.

Mine is being built as we speak, once it's done and I have it rigged and out on the water I will give you a full report. So you will get a 100% full report. Thus far by the looks and layout I'm really impressed, plus after watching it run on the water I'm sure it's going to be another great boat in the Tuffy line. The layout is very nice and the livewell is huge. The storage is 100% dry and the top cap of the boat is glassed to the hull to ensure a true one peice boat and dry storage.
I should have mine on the water by late March, and start a 10 day trip to the 1st Tournament of the year. I promise a very good workout of the hull and overall performance up-dates when I get back!

| I obviously havn't ridden in the boat, but saw it, and crawled around it at the Milwaukee Muskie Expo. It looks like it's going to be just an awsome boat. Lots of open room for gear and guests and lots of new features that Tuffy not only put in the 1890, but all of the Deep V models. The newly redesigned consoles, touch pad style switch pannel instead of rocker switches. Last year Tuffy introduced the center rod locker with struts to keep the lid open, seperating tubes and under the rod locker floor, room for 3 deep cycle batteries and an onboard charger. Nine ft rods in the 1890 and 2060 and 8ft in both the 1760 and 1700 models. All composite floor and transom, 52" rear livewell and even new seats. One of the most anticipated additions is walk-thru windsheild in all of the models except the smaller 1700.
One more addition that should be especially of interest to the tiller crowd, the 1760 GT will soon be available. Tuffy is removing the top cap and this will add several inches of room to the inside of the boat. Lots of new features along with the new models, get to a show or dealer to see them! |

| Well I'm back from the 1st tour stop, and had a chance to run the boat and fish from it. Here is the complete report:
I started out the 1st day trying to get a feel for the boat and how it handled. I lauched and took it out and played around. The hull jumps right out of the water! I'm running the E-Tec so I had no break-in time. By myself full of gas and gear I ran 58-59+ mph at 5700 RPM. 2 guys and full load 57 mph. My boat started to float around in the bow. I might have to re-prop or adjust the engine? I also have the salt water motor, (white) and I was told that the mounts are softer than the standard fresh water mounts. The motor maybe swaying side to side? I have to get it out and check this out. I'm still trying to get used to driving it, after running tin the last few years. By weeks end I got a better feel and felt more comfortable.
The storage is smaller than I am use to, but it is 100% dry ( smaller boat than I have had for a few years) I managed to get everything I needed in the boats storage. The lids are nice and tight (new) so you need to get right above them and pull hard, when the carpet wears a little from use they should be fine. The rod locker is perfect! I no trouble getting all the rods in or out.
The new touch pad is awesome! Everything at your fingertips. Rigging was simple (once I figured out where I wanted everything) I added Lighting on the inside (which Tuffy is looking into now) I mounted my units, VHF, Charger and bow mount with ease. I also added a fuse panel next to the main brain box- I did this to hook my units to so I have my units double fused. Anal I guess? I have done this since the mid 90's. It was simple and makes me feel safe, plus then I know where everything is! I used the main brain box to run all the new lighting.
Without any history on props or motor mounting its hard to figure out what I need to do yet. I have an expert thats going to help me out.
Overall: I had some very small issues, BUT the good the good thing is I keep in contact with Tuffy and they have addressed every issue. New boats always have a few things that need to be tweaked and this boat is no different. I talked with Zack about all the minor things I would like to see changed. Every issue has been or is being addressed. By the next event I should have the boat up-graded and the small things fixed.
Fishing: I only fished out of the bow, because that was the bite for me (jigging). It fished fantastic, with tons of room. I should be able to do some trolling at the next event, and most likely with in a week or so. I will will have a report on how it handles trolling after that.
The small issues that I thought should be addresed: The seal to livewell- water leaked into the boat. Tuffy has already addressed this, adding a new insert.
Seating: I felt to close to the wheel, so they made some sliders for my seats- They are looking for the true ones to fit the new seats this year.
Overall the boat is fast, and fishes great. Once all the minor bugs are worked out and I get get my motor right I should have a fantastic fishing boat!
Please feel free to ask any questions, I will try to answer them.
(You can look in the FLW day 2 pics to see my boat in the water)

| Gordy,
Looking good. Thanks for the update. I hope to have mine on order soon. Just need to get my Lund sold, first. What other changes would you make? Besides the motors, I mean. hehehe
When you come for the Green Bay FLW, we should get together. Let me know when you'll be out here. |

| After running the identical rig to what I assume you will be running (200 Opti, 9.9 pro kicker) down at Spring Valley, Shep, my only immediate change was the livewell seal, which was adddressed last week, and we implemented a few other tweaks to the model at the same time, one of them being the driver's seating position.
Boat Model: 2006 Tuffy 1890 DS
Top Speed: 58.5 - 61 GPS full load full gas depending upon direction of travel (up or down stream)
Engine: 200 HP Optimax
Engine mounting position: One hole up from bottom, no jackplate.
Prop: 21P Tempest Plus
Holeshot: Instant
Chine walk: none
RPM @ WOT: 5600
We never pulled the jigging rods out once all week. The boat trolled beautifully for us. I'm in love with my Merc 9.9 Pro Kicker as well. The weight, footprint and built-in tilt make it an extremely convenient piece of equipment.

Location: Rockford MN | I love the E-Tec, it's a soild and quick motor. I just need to figure out what is the best set-up on this new boat. Since it is a new hull, I just have to get everything set up perfect.
I'm not used to running an 18' boat again (well almost 19') once I get used to it again, I'm sure I'll be fine. The layout is very nice and fishing friendly, just smaller than I have had for the last few years. I really love the way the hull jumps right up and out, no trimming right away to get it to perform. The livewell is plenty big! The back splash-well is fantastic (not pretty, or for looks) You can jump right back there and net fish. Overall the boat has all the features you would want for fishing. I hope that in the next year or so, we will see a 20+ footer for us tour guys. I like the wider width boats personally, but understand how the narrower boats run better. This new hull is going to be a great selling boat because guys that just fish (not tournaments only) will find this hull suits every need. It's a great boat at a good price.
I forgot how much I missed all that speed, after running a big tin boat the past few years. Plus the softer ride was a treat to have again! |

| Well tour stop #2 is now over. I had a chance to troll from my boat, and I'm very pleased with how well it handled. I locked through all 3 days into the upper pool (3) and the boat was plenty fast and road very well. For the tournaments this is a very nice boat. 3 would be some what tight for trolling, but 2 was great. I just love the splashwell area! You can get right up there to net your fish. Overall I'm much more comfortable driving the boat, I figured out how to drive it. I don't need to trim it out as much as my last few boats to get max performance. This is a nice 18' boat, however if you need more room you may want to look into the 2060. All the guys I have had as CO anglers seemed impressed with the ride and performance. Some of them would have liked to see the 2060. Few have 619 Rangers or 18' Crestliners or Lunds on the Tour, so it's hard to compare the room when you are in a few different boats over the 3 days. I'm sure it seemed a little tight going from a 621 Ranger to a 18' tuffy.
I ran 52-55 mph up stream and 56-59 down. I trolled the whole tournament up-stream in strong current and on a current seam. The boat was easy handling and the bow sits nice and level, making the boat track true even in the current and stronger winds.
Now back to the work of cleaning all the river slime off my boat! I thought I heard her say "please get this junk off me" a good wash and wax and I'm sure it will be happy! lol |

| Gordy.....You kill me.....What is her name........she sounds high maintenance.......H'm......Next ime get a male boat...... |

Location: Rhinelander | Mine is to be water ready tomorrow evening. Pictures to follow! |
| are you guys talking Speed Over Ground or the actual speed
| Her name is "money maker" and she is doing it well! |
| The speed we are talking about is right off the GPS. |
| With our 621 and a 250 we get 64mph on the graph. |
| Well then, thats the fastest Ranger ever. Comparing a 250 to a 200 is a stretch. You would have to compare the 2060 with a 250----- and I have heard faster speeds than that. Oh well, I'll stick to my little 200 hp it's plenty fast. |
| Gordy......Women's name "Money Maker".......More like overhead......over-rated......
Don't take your eye off her......She sounds like a real "ba ba ba ba beauty" does Tuffy only make 1890's in female models.......? |

| Gordy what kind of model do you have a single, dual or windshield, and when is it for sale, thanks |

Location: Rhinelander | Put mine on the water for the first run tonight. I'll need more time for breakin, but it's fast, that's for sure.
