| Anyone use a mmc usb card reader for their mapping software?? I'm looking at the Lakemaster pc based software that has all the capabilities of a marine unit... I have an small laptop computer that would work out great for this application. Just wondering if anyone ever pre-plans their fising expeditions with the pc based software.
Also, if you use the pc based software, can you upload waypoints to the chip and then just insert the chip back into your Lowrance with the new information on it. And can you edit your Icons that you have put on the chip from your pc?
Thanks....

Location: Menasha, WI | I have the Lowrance card reader and Mapcreate software -- you can upload waypoints to the chip and then just insert the chip back into your Lowrance.
Rather than purchasing the Lakemaster pc software, you might try purchasing the Lakemaster mmc card and the LEI usb card reader then downloading the Lowrance emulator (http://www.lowrance.com/Software/PCSoftware/demos.asp) for your unit and reading the mmc card on your pc. As I understand it, only the LEI reader works for this application. You can mark spots, then save them onto a blank mmc card. DO NOT save onto your Lakemaster mmc.

| I downloaded the program from Lowrance.... now is it possible to buy just the MMC usb card reader and have the demo program from Lowrance actually read the information from the mmc usb card reader with the Lakemaster chip inserted?
Thanks for all your help!

I do what you request during presentations with a navionics chip. For some reason though, I have had people tell me that they have difficulties doing this. I'm not sure if it's a problem with their operating system or card reader. |

| Skeeter,
Yes. I am able to use either my LEI reader, or the reader I boaught at Best Buy. I don't know the brand name, but I think it is a SanDisk multi reader.
I am able to get contours from both Navionics and Lakemaster on the Lowrance emulators. You have to go in to the setup and select the mapping choice, just like the real deal.
I do have the Lakemaster PC software, and use it alot. |
