Location: OSHKOSH, WI | I have found an 8 horse kicker motor (1988 Mercury long shaft motor). Will it work on my 18 ft. Sylvan Viper 180 boat as a kicker if it has a long shaft? Advantages vs disadvantages? Thanks for all your input. Bob "FLY" |

Location: Fremont, Wisconsin | That motor was the first style to be used as a kicker when it was new. It will work just fine. Mix the oil thin, 75:1 and use synthetic oil. You will find that there is little if any smoke and the motor will run nice because of it. The long shaft is what you need. Dont pay to much for it. I would say it would be worth 2 to 4 hundred top end and it better be nice at 400.00. |

Location: OSHKOSH, WI | No I did not win it...$375 was the price I was willing to pay and someone at the last second jumped over me with $380. So I am still without a kicker for the upcoming season. I am keeping my eyes open. I am thinking of just buying a good one if I could go on a payment plan. FLY |
