I've got to choose between these two boats. The Alumacraft with a 115 E-Tec and the Fish Hawk with a Merc 115 EFI 4-stroke. I'm leaning towards the E-Tec because I can't get the E-Tec or a Yamaha 4 stroke on the Fish Hawk, but what I really want to know is whether the Alumacraft is a better built boat with their 2X hull system and the way they build the boat. Your opinions please.

Keep in mind that I run glass now, but have owned both brands, new and used all in the 18 & 19 ft. Both make an excellent boat. Both have been around for, in the area of, 50 years, give or take. I have friends that I fish with that own, Crestliner, Alumacraft and Lund Boats. I feel the Alumacraft is a superior riding boat to the other 2 and has a much drier ride than the Crestliner. It just feels better in rough water. More "sure footed" maybe. I just mentioned Lund because I have occassion to fish out of them, and these three are the top aluminum boats in the midwest by popularity.

If your down to the two of them I would take the Navigator with the E-tec. Ive heard stories of the transom on the fish hawks flexing in rough water. Maybe Crestliner has gotten that figured out since or maybe it was a fluke, but I have heard of two guys that have that problem. I run a Lund Mr. Pike 17 which is very comparative to these boats. If possible check into a boat with the floor rod storage. I dont know what you want exactly...Im very much not a fan of either boats, just in the ride of either one. I would take my Pike over any of the Alumacraft boats or the Crestliners. Might be personal preference. But Ive hear bad stories of Crestliner, and I dont like the way Alumacraft boats sit or ride in the water. Its your choice, but theres my input!
