Location: OSHKOSH, WI | I would like to upgrade from the old tape deck that doesn't even work to a cd player in my boat. Any ideas or suggestions of what to get. I don' t want to spend a bundle, just something that will work good. I am guessing I will need to get a marine grade one...I need prices and places and what you guys think. Bob |

| Check out West Marine, or Boat US. They had a good selection when I was looking.
Cabela's has them too. |

Location: OSHKOSH, WI | Any good brands I should look at...I saw a couple off name brands with sale prices of 119.99 to 140.99 at cabelas website. Wondering if those would work. I alot of the stereos come with speakers...are those decent or junk they throw in to make a sale? Right now I have a junk tape player that barely gets stations and the speakers are stock so nothing fancy there. Just want something that won't skip a lot and is decent. I would get satelite, but really don't need all that...too many stations for me and the money doesn't justify the buy for me. Thanks for the replys so far. Bob |

| I believe I would change out the speakers at the same time you change receivers. This way you know the impedance of the speakers matches the output of the stereo receiver. The only thing you would reuse is the audio cables in the boat. I found a cd player/receiver at Bass Pro Shops. |

| Flyman,
I put a Jensen AM/FM/CD in my boat a couple of years ago. About $150 at West Marine. SO far, so good.

| You know, this next boat, I may not put in a stereo. I may just get one of those docking stations for an I-Pod. And maybe wire in some speakers. Still thinking about it. |
