Ok so I just about bought a kicker motor for the first time and need to get it mounted on my 18 ft. sylvan viper fiberglass boat. I have a couple maybe stupid questions for you experienced pros. I have a livewell in the back on one side and on the other side a battery compartment and my oil tank in that compartment. My main motor is a 1998 2.0 135 horse mariner and my kicker is a 15 horse 1991 mercury. My motor is obviously oil injected and my kicker has fuel that is mixed in the seperate gas tank. Is there a way to have both run off my main motor and if so how and if not where do you put your kicker gas tank? Also any tips on how to mount this kicker to try and avoid parts and labor costing almost as much as the kicker. Thanks, Bob

Great question bob. And, as you, I am looking forward to the replys.

I have an evinrude 60 tiller that is premix, so the inclusion of a gas line for the kicker works ok for me. I dont remember when I see this, on this site or another, but there is a product out there that has a premixing process. Like I said, I just noticed and dont know the full details.

Evidently, the fuel source is your current gas line. Then there this box, thing-a-ma-jig that contains the oil and does a premix before getting to your kicker. I have seen folks use a small tank (like the 3 gal special from BPS) for fuel. Also, keep in the MWC'rs cant have an external secondary tank during events, or at least I thought.

Lake link classifieds has this panther thingy that may work for you. A bit fancy for me, but worth looking at.

How or where do you guys mount your kicker fuel tank in your boat. I have a large livewell in the back of my boat on one side and on the other side a battery and oil tank for my big motor. Thanks, Bob

OMC did make a premix unit a few years back. but they are pretty expencive.. the second gas tank is the way to go. U wont need anything bigger then a 2-3 gallon take to last you most the day. Hide it anywhere room permits.

Had one of them mixers for 7 years with no problem. They are still available and cost around 125.00 to 150.00 new. I sold mine for 50.00, thought that was fair.
