Moose is right. The trolling bite starts earlier than most people realize. There will be pro's trolling next week.

The MWS last year was won by trolling Poygan - early May with wind & snow.

MWS was won trolling the west end of poygan with waxworms on leadcore on little gold hooks... Isn't that what you said you did Rich? Hahaha

You guys better hope the PWT boys are not reading this while you give all my secrets away. I will let it slide this time because unless they figure out the exact size wax worms to use, that pattern is usless anyways.

By the way Brad, I was also using a small spinner in front of the hook. You would have to be an idiot to think you would catch those big eyes on just a plain waxworm:)

I think you can start trolling as early as it opens up. There's fish there, and they will eat. Now, they may not be spread all over like post spawn, but they are there. Somewhere. I wonder where, alot.

I trolled Clarks bay on wed after I found the bowmount was dead on arrival(battery was tu).Had to try the new tr-1 out and got squat. The new autopilot works great though. Not the best of conditions for trolling bright sunny day shallow water.I think the mouth of the river area would be a better bet.I did this last year close to this time of year and got a few smaller fish.Did not put in alot of time but if you time it right I think you could do very well.Used smaller baits #4-5 shad raps, baby t sticks and smaller wally divers. Its never to early to troll as far as I'm concerned.

I think alot depends on the year. Last year we did well the third week in april, but the fish came out of the river very fast. Normaly I start in early may. Small shadraps, baby T sticks, little rippers.
