due to lack of current this past weekend and tough fishin i decided to get out of the river and on the main lake, went to some of my shallows spots on sunday. Got to the first one and had 7 eyes in 40 minutes in 3 ft. of water, biggest being around 19" Perfect east winds 4 days in a row went back out before dark the next day and got 9 in an hour.

How do you fish for those fish in 3' of water? Are you pitching jigs or trolling? Just curious, new to the area.

Thanks

Well I decided that I did'nt feel like sitting around at home while the kids were in school so off to Winneconne(sp) we went.Started to put the boards in just after the no wake bouy and headed towards clarks bay.No more than got 4 out and a fish was on.It was maybe 14" and had a big gash from a toothy northern and decided to keep it.On the first pass we boated another half dozen fish and kept 2 15" fish and tossed the rest.Circled back and caught a couple more dinks and about a 10-12lb kitty cat that my girlfriend wanted to keep for supper. We were using #5 shad raps the lighter colors were what they wanted. The clear white was the better of the spread. After the sun dissappeared the fish kind of petered out.

When fishin that shallow i cast with 4 rs shad raps and 8 husky jerks, am tryin out the new smaller size x- raps but have had no luck yet. The shallow bite sucks at this point due to the clarity of the water. Am pickin up a few on lighted corks with leeches at night though. Sometimes they dont start until after 10 pm, really wierd year. Until we get some east winds to dirty it up i wouldnt even bother fishin the shallows unless your fishin at night.

Hey Rich! I know what you mean. I rolled a doughnut also. Wish I could have met you at Oshkosh. Maybe we'll hook up soon. Are you fishing the Fox River Classic saturday? I'll be there.

Date: 5/10/2006

Place: West Shore Reefs on Bago

Time: 5:30 pm until Dark

Conditions: Partly Sunny, 65 Degrees,no wind

Catch: 13 walleyes, 2 sheeps and 1 sucker

Summary:We went to the reefs south of Stevens reef and did not find fish right away. We moved to the south end of a reef and got on them. Fish were from 9 inches to 16 inches. We used jigs and crawlers for bait. The best time was around 7 pm, when there was a very quick breeze. We kept a limit tonight from 13-16 inches.

With the boat out of commission, the boys and I hit the neighborhood shore spot at dusk last night. Caught rock bass, largemouth, smallmouth, and a bunch of sheeps but no eyes. However, this was the first time we caught so many fish this spring so it was a significant improvement. The eyes should show up soon but this weather is going to interupt things a bit. We also had a HUGE owl fly right over our heads and perch in a tree just above us -- pretty cool.

There was a fleet that could have challenged the Spanish Armada on the Outer Bar last night -- either something is biting or the herd menatlity was at play (maybe a little of both).

The boat is in the shop and, hopefully, I'll have it back by the end of next week.

I know of people who are stilling hitting em' hard up in Shawano, so I agree that there are a bunch that still need to be washed back downriver.

hopefully all the rain we get the next few days will push them back into the lakes, although i heard of good shad numbers in the wolf so even with current if theres food they will stay

Did anyone make it out today? I want to get out on my raft , but work is in the way as usual. The fish have to be swimming past my raft as I write this! Hopefully I can get out there tomorrow night. Has anyone else fished the Wolf lately?

Hit the shallows last night and got nothing, thought it would be prime but wasnt, only had one bite but missed it. Try again tonight and keep you posted, seen a couple boats out gerkes reef and about three other boats went in to stoney beach at about 7:30, dont know how they did though.
