Location: Essexville, MI./Saginaw Bay. | My duck hunting bud invited me to fish one or both days over last weekend on the Saginaw Bay with him and his old school chum that was coming to town. But with the weather forecast and me wanting to finish painting my boat, I declined his offer. Well, he called yesterday morning with their results.
Their intentions were to troll cranks, but after 2 hours of doing that Saturday with no results and no meat/crawlers on board, he dug out the only thing that would resemble live bait. He put out the only 2 of Capt. Dans Spoon Harnesses he had, Blueberry Muffin and Golden Shiner colors, rigged with Gulp worms on one side, and plane harnesses with Gulp on the other. All were ran behind 1 ounce XPS weights, 22 to 35 back on inlines, and they would kick his Big I.O. motor in and out of geer to keep the speed down. They boated 9 decent fish on Saturday and 11 (one 7 pounder) Sunday before noon, with 90% of the fish coming on the spoons I was told.
